How to built a quick cheap aquarium stand 4ft x 2ft?

I have aquired a 4ft x 2ft x 2 ft aquarium fro my turtles that I will be filling to 1 & a 1/2 ft. I haven't much money, spare time, or technical skill, and wondered if anyone new any good ways to make a stand (need to raise tank about 1 & a 1/2 ft off the ground for the filter to work) I wondered about building a foundation of bricks with a peice of strong board on top, but not sure how long I could cope with that in my living room asthetically or hygenically! Could spend up to £50 on materials but will aquire used and unwanted items as much as possible. Any suggestions :o) Thanks Katie, thats a lovely stand. I prob' do have skills to make that, as I took woodwork at school, but it'd take ages and I don't have the right power tools (not to mention being a single parent in my tiny little council flat, no safe space for big projects) But thank you, your answer is apreciated. I really wish I had the time and space to do it. :o)

  1. I would just get a cabinet and put it on top of that. Here is a good site to help you out with directions, materials list, and tool list...its actually cheap and easy.
  2. you could take 2 saw horses and lay wood across the top for cheap or just build a cabinet from scratch.. its very simple you could do it from 5 8x2x4's...
  3. I hope that this will help: http://saltaquarium.about.com/library/blank/bldiy2x4cabinetframe.htm It's got plenty of DIY info on building your own cabinet frame stand.
