How do I mount a PA speaker on a mic stand?

I want to mount a standard pole-mount PA speaker (big hole in bottom) on to a standard mic stand. My PA speakers are Fender Passport 150s and hardly require a massive normal speaker stand being lugged around. Is there such thing as a adaptor or mount that screws onto a normal mic stand that converts it to a big fat speaker mount? Bear in mind that Fender Passport 150 speakers are not very. A boom with a big mic on it is probably just as heavy. Mounting them on a normal speaker tripod is like mounting a Sony palm camera on a Panavision dolly. The point is portability.

  1. no you will probably have to fabricate something to attatch to your mic stand. or buy a speaker stand. the question really is: how important are those speakers to you. i would use something designed to hold up speakers. on the other hand if they are just 150's... then why is it so important that they be raised. milk crates work just fine to get them higher than the lip on most stages.
  2. I doubt that there is any adaptor that is available. Plus the mic stand may not be able to handle that weight. Or the base of the mic stand may not be wide enough....making the speaker too top heavy. It could fall and hurt someone big time. Best of luck to you.
