  2. The Human Machine Interface is the device which lets a plant operator interact with the control system. One of the most common examples is where a PC serves as an HMI for a PLC. They may be connected by a serial cable or perhaps ethernet. The PC will be running an HMI program such as Wonderware which allows a graphical representation of desired values in the PLC program.
