Searching for a cake stand to hold about 200 cupcakes!?
For our wedding, my fiance and I are planning on having a "cupcake cake" rather than an actual cake. We're going to serve a couple different flavors that way people can choose what they like. Now, though, I am searching for some kind of tiered cake or dessert stand that can hold about 200 cupcakes. Most of the ones I've found max out around 50 or so. Or the really large ones cost almost $200. I mean, I guess if all else failed we could have a couple stands. But I would love to find one that could hold them all if possible and not be so expensive. Thanks so much!

- I don't think a huge stand would look all that good. If I were doing it, I would use multiple stands instead, but everyone has their own preference. Also, if you bought a large one, you would probably never use it again. I think you should check out renting one from wedding supply stores.
- Check with a couple of bakeries..
- I didn't see this myself but when I googled your question, someone mentioned that they had catered a wedding last summer and they had the same idea.Since no cupcake tier was found large enough they made one from cuts of rounded plywood, covered with colored tin foil and used various size clay pots for the base columns. The cupcakes were beautifully decorated with flowers which lent to the flower pot design. They claimed it looked beautiful and was admired by their guests.
- Go to Crate & Barrel, Williams-Sonoma, or even TJMax/Marshall's and see if they have varying sizes of matching cake stands. Then you can stack them up like a wedding cake! I wouldn't stack more than 3, though, just to avoid a catastrophe! Maybe have a different stack for each flavor cupcake.
- Making one would not be hard at all. Cut plywood circles (or have them cut them for you at home depot) and use glass blocks or bricks between the tiers. You don't need to worry about putting all 200 cupcakes on display at once. If you're having the event catered, have the banquet staff replace the cakes as your guests take them, or display the remaining cakes on a pretty tray next to your beautiful cupcake "cake". Congratulations! Enjoy your big day!
- I haven't seen any that big, but maybe you could get the one that fits 50 and put it in middle of the table with the rest of the cupcakes on trays around it/either side of it. Congratulations
