Alternative to cake stands?

Does anyone have any idea of something to use for a cake base that is not necessarily a cake base? I'm doing a cake for a friend and I have to use a 16" round cake pan. I have not found anything so far and do not have time to order one, ideas?

1. Do you have a cutting board that's large enough? Use the opposite side than you normally do, unless it has feet. Or my pastry board for pie crusts, etc. would be large enough for the 16" diameter. Or go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy a piece of plexi glass or something else they have that's sturdy enough. Or go to Michael's or Pat Catan's Craft Stores or Hobby Town and see if they have round styrofoam craft items that seem sturdy enough.
2. I tell you what I have done for it , get a glass bowl turn it upside down if the cake is going to be used as a center piece you can place mini lights under the upside down bowl this will create drama to your cake , then get a glass platter to rest the cake on it and you now have a lit cake stand.
