Ron Paul supporters, did you see that MO GOP scheduled an immediate challenge to Paul delegate credentials?

I'd like to tell you what the challenge is based on but apparently Paul delegates won't know until they show up at the star chamber.... I mean, Credentials Committee. http://www.stltoday.com/blogzone/political-fix/political-fix/2008/05/mo-gop-targeting-300-pro-ron-paul-at-monday-credentials-meeting/ "According to an email from some Missouri supporters of Ron Paul, sent late Sunday night, the state Republican Party has scheduled a special “credentials meeting” for 10 a.m. Monday at the Blue Armory in Jefferson City. At the meeting, according to the email, about 300 of the 1,900 elected delegates to the state GOP convention May 30-June 1 must disprove allegations that — presumably — accuse the targeted delegates of not being bona fide Republicans and/or not committed to supporting John McCain for president. “The state Central Committee spent approximately $1,000 on certified mailings that do not even state the allegations,” said the email sent from one challenged delegate. “A small group of insiders in the Missouri Republican Party are attempting to prevent delegates, properly elected at their county caucuses, from attending the state Convention in Branson… “Although many have repeatedly attempted to find out the basis of the challenges, these 300-plus delegates have been left in the dark and forced to travel great distances, some well over 100 miles, to finally learn the charges against them. Challenged delegates will be limited to a mere five minutes to respond to the charges with no time to prepare.” What do you think of that turn of events? Does that seem fair? Here's a couple of comments the article mentions: "–Laura Mize: “As a 78-year-old long-time Republican voter and the daughter of a lifetime staunch Republican from Southeast Missouri, I voted for the only man that represents the principles of the Republican Party as taught by my father and now they want to throw me away like an old newspaper. Well, they have started a fire instead! I’m so angry, I will show up even if I have to be carried on a stretcher!” – Eric Vought, Republican Committeeman from Springfield: “Having just worked to sell tickets for one fundraiser and putting together a donation for their silent auction, it disturbs me that they are spending $3.60 per certified letter, times a few hundred delegates to challenge all of these people. Why should I bother raising money for them if this is how they choose to spend it?” Doc II, apparently someone the MO GOP is extremely worried about.... Here's an update: http://www.stltoday.com/blogzone/political-fix/political-fix/2008/05/ron-paul-supporters-have-their-day-in-court-er-armory/ I think this is rich: "Here’s the scene: About 45 Ron Paul supporters, most of them from Republican hotbeds Greene County or St. Charles, are gathering in the gymnasium of the Jefferson City armory awaiting their fate as challenged delegates to the Republican state convention. There’s an 80-year-old man who made the jaunt on a Monday at 10 a.m. There is Curtis Abbott, one of the Greene County ringleaders. There’s a group holding a prayer circle as the first delegate is led upstairs. And over on the floor playing with his 3-and-a-half-year-old son Andy is Brent Stafford of St. Charles. Stafford was chairman of the St. Charles County Conference, which elected 137 delegates to the state convention, nearly all of them supporters of the failed presidential candidate, Paul." Wow, I can tell it's a really radical group of insurgents!

Public Comments

  1. Who is Paul Ron....
  2. Does this really surprise you? The entire nomination campaign for both sides seems to be preordained and factoring in how the media has helped (and still is helping) shape public opinion as well as the odds of success for candidates, I see the whole thing as a sham. There is not a doubt in my mind that the three current mainstream candidates have the same agenda. There is no choice here, just the illusion of choice.
  3. They're showing the world that the will of the people doesn't matter. How long will it be until the people revolt now that they have decided democracy is dead?
  4. It never surprises me how corrupt our political system is. We are crusading for democracy around the world, meanwhile we dont even have it here in the United States. It will take something very big to get people to band together to support our freedoms. Very disturbing times we live in.
  5. Up Periscope! Andy (Gen. Tom Thumb) Stafford is no toddler. Probably packin' heat, the little dickens! Yep. The evidence is mounting. The party has succombed to (and the people have been derelict in guarding against) exactly the sort of thing the Revolutionary Leaders warned us of. Using every available trick to concentrate power into the hands of the few. I like the idea of using the infomercials and allowing people to see the unspun truth, finally. And, of course, I hope he goes independent. At least the message will open some eyes and, if the vote is "wasted", then we end up with one of three identical puppets. So? We'd have gotten one of them ANYWAY if we followed the herd. Ba-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-aaaah. ...
  6. Thanks for the tip and that's good news as some news now is good. Also makes you wonder why they are frakin out. Go Ronnie!!
