My HD61W66 displays a pictures out of alignment as if there are three layers misaligned. The picture is kind of a 3D distorted image...as though the perspective has been altered about 30% backwards...sort of like looking at a slanted picture.

  1. This RCA tv is a crt rear projection tv. It has three picture tubes that when the geometry of the three different pictures are corrected (convergence), then you see a nice color picture. If this circuit that corrects the geometry fails, then you will see the red, green and blue pictures misaligned. The red will be trapezoidal in one direction and the blue will be just the opposite. The green will be the closest to right with the exception to being bowed on top and bottom (all three colors will also have this bowing). Normally it's caused by a bad connection in the high voltage circuit, and this connection arcs and blows a fuse that causes the convergence circuit to fail. On a few models you will also need to upgrade the connectors on the power/deflection board to black ones, if they are the white ones. This is not a job for a novice, take it to an RCA authorized technician. Expect to pay around $200-$250. And the more you play it, the more this arcing can destroy other components or the circuit board itself.
