How to keep a cake from sticking to the serving dish?

I have a pretty cake stand that I'd like to use, but I hate when cakes & cookies stick to the plate and dont come off clean when you get a piece. OTHER THAN WAX PAPER, what can I do to keep my cakes from sticking to the serving plate? Thanks :-)

  1. Just spray it very lightly with a little butter flavored cooking spray.
  2. Sprinkle a little powdered sugar on the cake plate.
  3. Learn to have more realistic expectations.
  4. Coat the plate with a little vegetable oil on a paper towel.
  5. We call it icing sugar and you can dust the base of the stand with it. You may call it powdered sugar
  6. You can spray some oil on it or sprinkle flour on the plate
  7. put one of those cake "doilies" on the cake stand and then put the cake on top of it.
  8. Lightly powder the bottom of the plate with flour. A very thin coat will prevent sticking.
