Love & Sex Rekindle Relationships Thou Shalt Have Sex Every Day By CAROLINE HOWARD, AOL When debate turns to the value of marriage, attention normally goes to the religious sanctity of the union, the socio-economic benefits to the married adults and their children and even health pluses. Married couples tend to live longer, healthier lives and are typically less depressed or anxious than their single, divorced, or widowed counterparts. But one Ybor City, Fla, pastor has taken up the mantle of another marriage blessing. In an attempt to curb high divorce rates, Relevant Church head pastor Paul Wirth issued a challenge for his married congregants: Have sex every day for one month. Watch the CBS Early Show report: "Sometimes life gets in the way," Wirth told the Associated Press. "Our jobs get in the way. And that's no different for people who attend church." According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the rate of divorce in the U.S. is 3.6 divorces per 1,000 people; the rate peaked at 5.3 per 1,000 in 1981. Notably, divorce rates are highest in states where many conservative Christians live, including Arkansas and Mississippi, while the percentage dips in the more liberal Northeast and upper Midwest. What accounts for the overall decline in divorce rates? Many experts attribute it to a combination of the rise in cohabitation, the older age of marriage, and the overall decline in the marriage rate -- a whopping 30 percent since the mid-1980s. Others factors in income and education levels. Some, like Pastor Wirth, believe lower divorce rates somehow relates to higher sexual activitiy. One recent online study by clinical sexologist Bob Berkowitz, PhD and his wife Susan Yager-Berkowitz, authors of 'He's Just Not Up for It Anymore,' however, found that the U.S. divorce rate is well below the nation's average of married couples in sexless marriages (couples having sex fewer than 10 times per year). And it said the most frequent reason couples stop regular lovemaking was 'unadventurous sex,' or a loss of enthusiasm or novelty. 2. Having sex everyday is not realistic in a marriage.Many partners both work and are tired. A sexless marriage would be like living with your friend.It's quality that counts not quanity.
3. While I am not Christian, I do agree. Sex in marriage is very important. It strengthens the bond, it heals, and it relaxes. The divorce rate is affected by sex because sex is the drive that forces us apart, no sex, no happiness, cheating occurs also usually because of problems in the bedroom. Try it everyday for 1 month, sounds like a good plan to me ;)

5. That was waaaaay too much to read...but I sure wish my hubby and I had the time and energy to have sex every day, haha.

I think that insisting on sex every day is somewhat duanting for some people, especially those who are getting on in years and might not be able to manage it every day. i do think a good sex life is important to help a marriage to run more smoothly, but I think insisting on sex every day is a bit too much. Sex manuals that were published in the seventeenth century gave men advice on how to arouse their sexual partners (it was thought that a woman would only conceive if she orgasmed during intercourse). One such manual said "women choose rather to have a thing done well than to have it often". In other words, quality matters more than quantity. I think how much you enjoy sex is more important than how often you do it.

8. I disagree with Pastor Wirth. If what he says is right, then that must mean that the ancient Tantric Texts and the Perfumed Garden manual are wrong. I don't think so! Those texts have been used successfully by people for centuries to obtain ultimate happiness, and they are a world away from this guy's plan. But of course, they aren't Christian. I wonder if this pastor has stock in pharmaceutical companies that market sexual performance enhancing drugs like Viagra or Cialis. His congregation is going to need them. Sex every day may be ok for newly weds, and the congregation may start out thinking it is a fun game. The fun will soon turn into boring, repetitive quickies and frustrated females. Don't forget also, 30 days in a row means that no matter how bad your headache is, how tired and stressed you are, when the kids are finally in bed, your spouse has really ticked you off, and grandma is in the next room, get ready for a week long threesome with Aunt Flo! How fun is that?! In addition, some people can not achieve this due to medical, psychological or other reasons, such as out of town business. I hope he makes this abundantly clear that this is optional. If he is telling married couples they must do this, what will happen in relationships where one partner doesn't want to participate? Worst case scenario: Maritial rape that goes unreported and rewarded (even if unintentionally) by the congregation.
