Where can I buy some cheap speaker stands?

This is ridiculous. I looked around for some speaker stands and the prices are insane! They're just stands for goodness sake! I mean, do they amplify volume or something? I could just go get two wooden logs instead. lol. I know a lot of HD aficionados are going to flame me but I just don't see the point of buying expensive stands the size of branches.

  2. What a good stand does is keep the speaker box motionless and stops vibrations from the floor going into it and from the speaker into the floor. A good speaker stand will be very heavy and not ring with vibrations. A good speaker stand might allow you to fill it with sand or lead shot. A good speaker stand will also be aesthetically pleasing. You could always DIY something like a TnT stubby or make a stand out of stone or concrete. You want something cheap that works but doesn't look the hottest, get some cinder blocks. For $5-$10 they will perform just as nice as the high priced models. Wrap them in cloth and use blutac on the top to keep the speaker in place. Otherwise expect to pay upwards of $100/pair for something decent.
  3. Check out amazon I got a good pear of stands for around 40$ you have to assemble them yourself but it's easy. The ones I got were made by sanus and they are great. Here is the page with them. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=speaker+standsnds
