Can I have two computer displays, each with different resolutions at the same time?

I have a hdtv that I want to use for an additional monitor. My computer says that I can either "extend the desktop on another monitor" or clone the displays. I want to clone them, but how can I set different resolutions on each display? Both windows and the nvidia control panel only allow separate resolutions when using the extend feature.
