What are the codes and conventions of reality tv shows?

Have to research and analyse reality tv shows for a media assignment, but have no idea what the codes and conventions of it are, help please? also, the tv show ive chosen is punk'd, seems pretty easy, if you have any ideas of easier ones let us know (: lol

1. big brother? i can't really think of any codes and conventions, which is awful seeing as I just did my media a level. All I can think of are the contestants [the inferiors] and the superior who is almost 'in charge' or is running the show. Usually, there are public votes, one on one talks where the contestant is talking to the camera, it's a bit of a competition, there's a prize at the end ... it's probably easier to talk about shows like big brother, x factor and american idol - things like that. They are all similar and easier to think of codes and conventions for.
