Will they be able to track her IP address through Yahoo?

Earlier I came across a question from a woman in the UK (where I am too) talking of an issue which put her young child's life at risk due to serious negligence on her part (leaving class A drugs lying around a toddler) and displaying a lack of care about her toddler's welfare (stating she didn't want to wait up all night to check he hadn't eaten the pill she had lost because she would be on a come down by then). This made me sick to the stomach. I refrained from answering because I couldn't answer without being abusive to her, so I left it. However I sent the address of her profile, as well as the address to the question to the NSPCC (stands for National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children for anyone not in the UK), as I couldn't leave it on my conscience to let this pass knowing a kid's life is at risk, if not now then potentially in the future. I said in the email that if they contact Yahoo, they might potentially be able to track her down through her IP address. I'm just wondering, does anybody know if this will be possible? Or will it be a dead end for them if they choose to take it any further?

  1. If she is using a proxy then they can't track her down from an IP address. If not, then they might.
  2. Yes i think they can..... And good for you i probably would of unloaded on to her =(
  3. Her Internet service provider would know who it is. Yahoo will not give out anyone's personal address, unless a court order is handed to them. But do not worry, if the police are notified, they will take care of it. I am not sure if her address would be given to NSPCC, without a court order. I am in the US, so your laws may differ..Good Luck.
  4. It depends on if she is using a proxy. However, her Internet service provider would know her personal details, and God willing they will be happy to provide those. What a sick woman... kudos to you for reporting her! Child abuse is simply disgusting, in any form.
  5. I'm afraid that it will be dead end but you can always try. First if you have received email from her then try by yourself of it is possible to track her IP address by using email tracers below: http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/email-tracking/email-header.php http://www.find-ip-address.org/email-search/find-email.php If you have received a couple email address try with each one. Then if you know for sure that it is her IP address you can go to the police because ISP will never give you any information's their customers. Good luck!
