Did or will you have a cake stand at your wedding?
I hadn't even thought about it but seeing bridal magazines advertising wedding cake stands. I never noticed this before at weddings - thought they just set the cake directly on the table. Is this something you got? If so, were you glad you did because it looked nice in pictures or was it a waste of money?

- I had one. My cake was a three tier cake, but each tier was separate from the other, so we had to have a cake stand. If my cake had been more "normal" I probably wouldn't have gotten one unless it was included with the cake. No one looks at the stand...everyone is too busy eyeballing the cake itself....lol
- I had a very simple silver looking cake stand, and it made the cake much more presentable. The pics looked great with the cake stand & improved the overall look & setting. My wedding cake was a smaller 2 tier cake. Good luck :)
- I'm getting a mirror cut for my cake stand. It'll be picked up off the table of course. And I personally do pay attention to the cake stands. You will notice it in pictures, and I'm sure most of your guests, especially females will notice. I'm glad I'm going with this sort of stand. I'm very happy with it. And I know that I can sale it or rent it out (I own a business that runs into a lot of brides). Good Luck
- i personally like the cake stands makes it look taller and nicer
- Yes we did. It was a cascading cake stand and we purchase cascading candle holders to go with it. It was quite beautiful. A nice cake stand is very beautiful. Check with your cake baker to see if you can borrow one of theirs. You can also construct your own.
- No i did not have a cake stand. We just had some plain and simple. We loved the way it was made because his sister made and decorated.
- People will notice the cake stand and the decor of the cake table- besides the bride and groom, it's the centerpiece of the wedding! It will also be prominently featured in your wedding photos. You should consider the practicality of cutting the cake. If there isn't a cake stand, the crumbs and icing will most likely get all over the table- not attractive. Plus, cakes look larger and more impressive if they are elevated. You can rent one from a party rental store or buy one on Craigslist from someone in your area that just got married. One of your family members or friends may have one you can borrow for the day if you ask around. Depending on the size of the cake, you can probably find a simple cake stand at a discount store or restaurant supply shop. I've also seen some great vintage cake pedestals for good prices at antique shops, flea markets, and vintage stores. If you're having the reception at an established venue like a hotel or you're having it professionally catered, they may have one that you can borrow for free- just ask! If you decide to go without one, do a trial run of the decor and make sure it looks okay. Your guests won't notice if there isn't a cake stand necessarily, but they will notice if something doesn't look right. Below are some links for DIY options.
