Is there a specific cake that stands up to fondant better?

or do all cakes work well? Also, how do I make ganache spreadable, so that I can spread the cake with ganache and then cover it with the fondant?

  1. I have found that a really moist cake helps...the stiffer and dryer the cake the less chance it will adhere and smooth properly...But when I say moist, I don't mean squishy-moist.
  2. All cakes will work well but you have to out a thin Layer of icing on it so it adheres to the cake ,so thin that you can see the cake through the icing, Hope This Helps!
  3. Hi - I think these websites are exactly what you are looking for:
  4. Don't use fondant it is nasty and a waste of time and money as it will just be thrown in the trash anyway. But any cake should work. Also I wouldn't use ganache as the sticky substance to hold the fonadnt on the cake. Ganach dries to quickly.
