Can you keep aquarium stands on the carpet?

Can you keep aquarium stands on the carpet?, my friend says you have to peel away the carpet that the stand will be to make it balanced? All my tanks are on stands located on carpet.

1. I think you could, but keep in mind that tanks must be leveled otherwise the tank could crack or leak because of stress. (Especially larger tanks, they must be on leveled ground.)
2. Yes you can. They does need to be leveled but NOT to a carpenter's precision. EDIT All those stand listed on bigals can easily be placed on the carpet.

4. All but one of my tanks are on carpet and have been since I started the hobby.
5. I would say your friend is right, and another reason is you might not like a mark on your carpet that will stay a while.
