Is there a catch to the promotions offered if you attend a timeshare presentation?

We are planning to go to Orlando in December, and recently heard that Westgate Resorts was offering seven nights at their one-bedroom condos for $199 total (including tax). My husband thinks it's too good to be true. All we have to do is attend a 90 minute presentation the day before we leave Orlando. I have already put down a $20 deposit and it is refundable within 14 days. I don't think it's a hoax, but know I am starting to second guess myself. We did a timeshare presentation in Las Vegas to get two free dinners at a buffet, as well as two show tickets. The people were very pushy but that didn't bother me because I just pushed right back and told them I wasn't interested. Have you had any experience with the timeshare presentations? Is there any fine print that I need to be aware of?

  1. you r there hours
  2. The catch is to be prepared for a high pressure sales meeting. They will hammer you for your money to buy in and make you feel bad if you don't. The only timeshare that I have seen that doesn't adhere to these tactics is Disney.
  3. From what I understand, the only thing you have to do is attend the timeshare presentation. I have met a couple who said they go all over and get all kinds of free and discounted hotels and meals just going to these presentations. It isn't too good to be true. Go and enjoy yourself.
  4. Well just like in Vegas they are VERY PUSHY! Westgate Resorts is the inventor of the high pressure timeshare presentation. So be prepared for a lot of pressure, and to be there for A LOT and I mean A LOT longer than 90 mins. I have had friends, and family who have been there upwards of 3 to 4 hours hearing every reason why their 90 mins was not up yet, and pressuring them into purchasing. If you don't mind just saying no, then no, then no, then no again then go for it. But there are lots of other good deals around. I hope this helps!
  5. Well besides the high pressure sales, this constitutes a business relationship, which means they are now exempt from do not call lists. They will call you at home. A Lot.
  6. It is all BS! You will plan on 90 min and last 5 hours and be peed off! Use the site below for free printable discount attraction coupons.
  7. The announcement makes it look as though you will get something valuable for nothing. But that is not true. You will have to earn it by sitting through a long sales pitch, often of more than two hours, and frequently using high pressure tactics. For that, you will earn the cheapest of the "gifts" listed.
  8. We did a Westgate Resorts weekend in Branson, MO a couple of years ago. It was $99 total for 2 nights. The only requirement was a 90 min. presentation. We ended up being stuck in the presentation for 3 hours. It did not cost us any more money, but personally we have decided that our time is more valuable than the little bit of money they save you. The one catch is if you do not go through the presentation to the end, they will charge you full price for your stay. It it basically ends up being a hostage situation.
  9. No hoax. You are the catch and they will try very hard not to let you go. Timeshare presentations are usually a hard sale. You can handle Vegas then will you'll be ok here. Presentation can run hours. They try very hard. You still are getting a great deal! http://www.orlandotimeshareoffers.com/ Make sure you attend tour or they will sock it to you for the lodging cost.
