Inexpensive way to mount center speaker above TV?
I need to somehow mount my center speaker over my new TV...it's a flat panel so I can't just put it on top of it. Speaker stands are pretty expensive, and I don't have much room behind the TV on my stand to put a speaker stand anyway. Mounts look like a better option...but they are also a bit pricey for what they are - either one or two metal bars that drill into the wall. Any other ideas? Is there some kind of kit or something else I can buy at a hardware store, not specifically for speakers, that would do the job at a fraction of the price?

- I bought some wall mounts on eBay (new) for a good price. It was a full set (enough for all speakers) and I believe it was only $20-30 if I remember correctly. They worked well and were universal so they should work with the various types of speakers. I moved apartments and will only be in the new one for a year, so rather than mounting them on the wall again I bought some stands (not for the center speaker, though, as it fits on my tv stand). But if you need any stands for any of the other speakers, I bought a pair from Wal-Mart for $25. Just look for universal speaker stands and you should find them online (or in store). The brand is 'atlantic' or 'atlantec' or something along those lines. They work well and look fine as well. 2 for $25 was a great price compared to what electronic stores want for stands.
- well since im in the south and we always use sheetrock screws for everything i suggest those, if you look on the back of your speaker like most, they have a hole that hooks onto a screw and most people just screw a long screw into the wall and hook it rite on there and just hide your wires
- If you have a TV stand, you can mount it on one of the shelves where you put your movies and things like that. TV stands with shelves are sold a Target starting at about $70. This might not be what you would call inexpensive, but I hope it helps.
