Why doesn't the food network channel have any show with an African-American or even an African as the host?
Is it just me or has anybody honestly noticed this? Can anyone with an answer let me know why?

- Actually they have an African that does desserts and sweets and all the other ones are on later at night.
- It's totally possible that there just aren't any black chef/hosts to hire. Simple as that. Don't look too deep into it, because I highly doubt that the Food Network is pushing some racist agenda, lol.
- Hmmmmmmm, i really don't know. Maybe if a black person would get in that competition , "the next food star network, then I guess we will see more black people on that show.
- I don't know, but they are constantly looking for talent. Do you know anyone? I'm sick of Rachel.
- I dont think>>> but they need to
- Probably the same reason they don't have an Asian or Hispanic one.
- its an issue of demographics and advertising dollars. food network has massive overhead, it cannot stay afloat without advertisers like Kraft and McCormick. these companies target demo for ad views do not generally include the African American community. it's THAT simple. it's not right, but that is the simple reality. food network has tried, from time to time to have black hosts (and Latino/a's and Asians) but the shows don't do well and inevitably get pushed off to late night and then cancellation.
- The host of Sugar Rush is African American.....I guess you don't watch often enough.
- Have you seen the idiot Bob Tuchie and some of the producers. They don't have an original thought. This season of TNFS copied so much from Top Chef (Bravo) that Bravo should sue their pants off. Glad to hear that others are sick of BIG mouth Racheal---She is such a phoney and pretty Whacked out these days. As far as the African-American, maybe Ofrie(Oprah) could help them out like she did RR. She seems to have clout !!!
- I hope the Food Network people check out this site occasionally! I would love to see a show on soul/southern/African-American cooking. I don't come from that tradition and I have almost no experience with it, so anything they aired about it would be new and interesting to me.
- Hmmmm.....Apparently your not REALLY watching the food-network. If not then you would know your question is completely out of context. I personally can't stand when people try and pull out the "Racist" card. GROW UP!!! That's why there is racism to begin with. Don't look for things that are not there. Don't point fingers. Don't Judge.
- I am going to answer your question, and reply to a few other people's comments. First of all there are shows with black people and shows with black people as hosts! To name a few.... Al Roker, host of Roker on the Road Warren Brown, host of Sugar Rush Bobby Rivers, host of Top 5 Sandra Pinckney, host of Food Finds Eric McLendon, host of Recipe for Success. (plus) the next food network star had african american and latino contestants!!! On top of that there are 2 show that I know of with Latinos as hosts... Juan-Carlos Cruz, host of Calorie Commando Ingrid Hoffmann, host of Simply Delicioso If you do not like Food Network, change the channel. If you want to accuse Food Network of being racist, at least watch it for a day or so, OR just do some simple research! The Food Networ's major stars are "major stars" because of the American people--what we watch, they play more often at the primetime hours....chew on that for a few minutes. and yep...beegirl, you hit the nail on the head!
- They do, it's called Suger Rush with Warren Brown.
- They have african americans with Food Finds, stars Sandra Pickney and Al Roker's show. They did have a vegetarian one on with Curtis (I can't remember his last name but he was so friendly and he cooked everything with "Love"), but that was a couple years ago. Recently they had "Sugar Rush" and I believe it still runs, the host is african american. Reggie was the first runner up last year's food network star, It was America that voted for Guy Fieri, not the food network.
- Maybe no african american has tried to "get-in" to the Food Network. Because, they have a variety. There's a hispanic one, on Simply Delicioso. There is an African one also. Unfortunately the hispanic one JAG on the next food network star was a arrogant, stupid, f-ing liar. He didn't deserve to get that far. Embarrasing because i'm hispanic.
- Sugar Rush is hosted by a black guy w/ dreads, or braids, I can't remember. And there was this bald black many who was on there (not sure he is anymore - I don't see him on the list of shows on the website) who cooked on the grill on every show.
