How do you use the pet displays in Sims 2 Pets?

I have has the pet expansion for sims 2 since it came out and I still have no idea what those pet displays are for or how you use them. If someone could help me out I would really appreciate it.

1. They are no good and dont do anything. They have it for your sims people aswell
2. i don't think they do anything.
3. The pet displays are when you want to have a pet store. Check out the pet stores that came with the expansion. Place them and then have a sim visit that lot. You'll see there is a puppy, dog, kitten or cat in the display. If you click on the display your sim gets the option to buy a pet. Then they get the option to design a custom pet. That is the purpose of those displays.
