What are the best ways to clean rocks and minerals of deposits, stains, and organics, so that they can be used for display pieces and in a collection?

- well first you should read up on what deteriorates the minerals first so you know which cleaning material to avoid when you clean your specimens. The best thing I can think of would be something neutral like filtered or bottled water to clean off the rocks.
- If you get yourself a good rock and mineral guide book, it should have the cleaning instructions. but be prepared to have , Distilled water Bicarb of Soda CLR(calcium ,lime and rust remover) Ultrasonic cleaner Hydrochloric acid Scrubbing brushes tooth brushes toothpicks tweezers and a whole lot more cleaning aids
