My aquarium stand is so narrow!?

I bought at 29 gallon aquarium yesterday and a stand the store recommended to go with it. However, while I was filling the aquarium with water I noticed how narrow the aquarium stand is. It seems like it would fall over easily. Then I looked online to see what other aquarium stands I could buy and they all look narrow. This is a picture of my stand http://www.bigalsonline.ca/BigAlsCA/ctl3664/cp44255/si1315016/cl0/bigalsstingraystand24x12black How deep should my aquarium stand be? Does my stand look safe? How can I make it safer?

  1. Its okay if the aquarium fits it. It could fall over though. I recommend putting it against the wall in a corner of the room. That would make it much safer. Good luck!!! ;D
  2. It may look narrow, but a tank with 29 gallons of water is going to weigh a LOT and it's going to take quite a bit to knock it over. The stand you got actually looks better than most I've seen. As long as the aquarium fits one the stand and doesn't hang over the edge, it should be ok. How deep your water depends on what type of fish you're putting in it. As a general rule though, I fill it up. No point in having a 29 gallon aquarium if you're only going to put 20 gallons in it =) Just make sure the stand is level and everything should be ok. The weight of the water will go a long way in keeping it in place.
