  1. Go to the empire state building, times square, the brooklyn bridge and maybe even a yankee game or a basketball/hockey game at Madison Square Garden. Also for eating go down to Chinatown
  2. A walk through Central Park would be ideal in October. Maybe you'll luck out and have a late leaf turn. I liked taking in Times Square on a Saturday night - just people watching. On the way back to the hotel, stop in at a deli (Stage Deli is my favorite) and have a big piece of chocolate cake!
  3. On my one day trips I would always pick 2-3 of the main attractions for NYNY and go there. We dedicated a day to the statue of liberty, battery park and "Ground Zero". We did a day of Times Square, shopping and Central Park. (Although you could do Central Park by itself for a whole day, you wouldn't even know your in the MIDDLE of NYNY!) I always liked seeing the different buildings and so we would just walk and see the different trump towers, and other famous buildings. Oh and the museums are great, you could pick 1-2 museums. Rockefeller Center with NBC. You can pick a boat cruise to see all the sights from the water. (Circle Line has the best ones, I liked the 3 hours tour, but lived where I could go back to NYNY anytime.) Going in November if after Thanksgiving you have all the famous window displays you could visit. Rockefeller center and the ice rink along with the tree. New York can create any day trip you want it to! I would think through what you know of NYNY and make a list of what you want to see and what he wants to see, then exchange lists and take out a map and see if you can plan a day. Make sure you get the whole experience and do some subway, some walking and of course a yellow cab! Good luck and enjoy your trip!
  4. the best way to get to know new york and have a great time is to just pick an area (ie: Soho, Upper West Side, Greenwich Vilage) and just walk around and get lost. you'll find the stores and restaurants off the beaten path are far more spectacular then any of the tourist traps. you'll get to feel like a real new yorker, and you'll probably get some great stories in the process too! have a great time, new york is one of the most interesting cities to visit.

  7. Yes... battery park is very nice. While you're down that way, you absolutely need to see the South Street Seaport. It is a really nice area down Fulton Street. There is a tiny shopping mall and some resturants, but also cobble stone roads and the best is the antique boats and the view of Brooklyn across the river. If you are going in November, you may be able to see the living christmas tree--- a choir of people singing. It's really nice.
  8. 1st) Start with the book below, it will provide this. 2nd) The straight truth on all the attractions, from Central Park to the Statue of Liberty. 3rd) The best restaurants for every taste and budget 4th) Appeal by Age Preschool Grade school Teens Young adults Over 30 Seniors ( you get what i saying ) 5th) What you and hubby love to do. >>>>>>>>> My Idea for 1 day trip <<<<<<<<<< Get up early for a boat ride to the Statue of Liberty, MUST be 1st boat out CAUSE it is the only one that lets you climb to the crown. ( check latest scheduling be 4 U go ) After the climb up an down go over to Ellis Island grab a quick bite to eat and fast tour thru your history, ( if you all came over that a ways) Buy an all day bus/subway pass. Jump on to the subway uptown, west side near 86th st. Walk into Central Park, See Tribute to John Lennon, take bus thru Central Park to east side, 5th ave Walk down to the Carousel, do a romantic ride, get back on to buss down to 59th and 5th stop at Tiffany’s Fifth Avenue at 57th Street , you know you will love to browse. Over to the Time Warner Center just a few blocks away 59th st & 8th ave, great view & good eats. Stroll down to the Top of the Rock great view about 4pm just before sun down and dinner, great evening view as the city lights start to come on Lighting up the city skyline ( see Link ) But Wait theres more..... Come on down to the Staten Island Ferry for a evening of Romantic cruising. Then head home, OH don't forget to bring a few disposable cameras too.
