Do you have to have a stand for an aquarium.?

Is it alright to leave it on the floor. I have no dogs or cats or anthing that will bother the aquarium. Is it okay to leavi it on my carpet floor not on a vent or anything just on carpet.

1. I think so, I can't imagine why not. I'd probably trust a harder surface than carpet, like hardwood or somesuch. But there isn't any reason as to why you cannot.
2. When I had fish, I had a stand and EVERY person that I ever knew who had fish... had the aquarium ON A STAND
3. You wil probably want to elevate it off the floor. The floor changes temperature according to the seasons. Just buy some of those heavy blocks that you get at the hardware store. You also might get a collection of water underneath and it will ruin your carpet.
4. I had my 55 on the floor for a long time- stands are exspensive! We still have our nusery tank on the floor.
5. That is okay, but it makes maintenance difficult. When you have to siphon the gravel, it is hard to get the pressure going. I did it, and did not realize that until the first time I had to clean it. If it is a small one it might work out all right. Also, you don't want anything falling in it, or anyone kicking it accidentally. Have fun!
6. if you have a strong table i would put it on that fish need some sun light i use to have five tanks and they sat on any thing coffee table entertament center any thing
7. You should put something under the aquarium to keep it above the carpet. The aquarium may weep like a glass does in a room and dampen the carpet. It isn't leaking but the moisture can damage the carpet with mold or mildew.
8. i do have my larger tanks 20-400 gallons on stands, but smaller tanks like 10s i have one the floor.
9. xerancupio is correct. It's better to Have it elevated. At least three feet. I don't have a stand for my 55 gal.....I used two night stands and a piece of 1/2 inch plywood for support. There is a several inch gap in the middle that the board supports. Works great and looks just fine. Syphoning a tank from the floor would not be an easy task to get the syphon going or strang enough if you do get one going. You need to vacuum the gravel to get the detrious out.
10. you never know if the tank might leak. If its on a stand, you know somethings there. if you have a tank on the ground, its easy to trip over or smash or crack the glass. The stand's expensive, but its worth it. If you need an alternative, you could always get a makeshift stand like a cheap cart or something of that nature
11. nah, but you may not want to keep it on the floor if it's going to be on carpet, because water + electical stuff + carpet = not good. plus, the pressure fromt he aquarium will fuck up the carpet... otherwise, you should be fine! mostly, people get stands to hide wires / fish supplies, but if you can free up a nearby drawer you should be fine. good luck on starting up your aquarium!
12. Depending on how big it is i guess it would be okay. Make sure you have a lid and its in an area where there isn't direct sunlight or a draft. The only real problems with having it on the floor is that you cant really see it because its not at eye level and it more likely to get a crack in it because someone accidentally ran into it or kicked it. I'm sure it would be okay, you don't HAVE to have a stand, but my tank is on a really long dresser type thing instead of a stand, those can be expensive. I would just be concerned you could really watch the fish without laying on the floor. Other than that, it should be fine if it out of main walk ways and such. Good Luck.

14. Yes, it is okay to leave it on floor. But I think you can use fiber tub rather than Aquarium, because for most of the time you just see it from Top.
