How much does a 20 gallon aquarium generally cost?

I normally look online to find the prices of things, but I can't find any regular 20 gallon aquariums online. Of course I'm not looking for the exact price, but I want to know if it is going to cost me $50 or $200, generally, or somewhere in between.. Just the aquarium, no stands, etc.

  1. you can steal them for free
  2. I think its around 70 but my brother got one for a Discount from a Friend is a manager
  3. Depends on where you live and how nice the aquarium is.
  4. MONEY!
  5. A 20 gallon aquarium cost me $75 at Petco.
  6. Well, we have two older 25-gal. tanks you can have if you want? Anyway, generally it depends - sometimes $75, sometimes more. A good place to start is on Craigslist.
  7. $25 at petco
  8. U can go to Walmart , petco, Petsmart, some K-marts to get a 20 gal. for less than $40.00. Just the tank and no accessory.
  9. The tank itself? 20-40 depending on if it's high or long. Granted that doesn't include the hood, lights, filter or anything else. Adding a glass hood and lights, you're looking at about $50-100 total. You can get a 20 gallon aquarium kit in the 125 range at petland, and it's uncommon to see much outside 20 dollars of that range. Another option is craigslist, where you can get them a bit cheaper. hope this is helpful.
  10. I found a majority of tanks selling for ~150 dollars, and one for about 100, These were most likely deluxe tanks with goodies included. I'm going to guess that a regular rectangular 20gal tank only is around 50 to 100 dollars. You seem to be looking for just the glass or acrylic tank itself and have all the other stuff awaiting the tank? If you have a stand already, I can see the need for the specific size you ask about. If you are looking to replace a tank and do not have a stand, I'd look at the breeder tanks 30 or 40 gallon type. They are not as deep and provide easy access to the bottom because they are not as deep, plus the extra "square footage" would allow the fish?, I assume more room for movement. I have a 29 gallon tank and it has a lot of area, but some of the capacity is wasted in depth... I only have one top water fish and he's too big for any of the middle and bottom dwellers to bother. The extra few inches of length and width would really be helpful for the schooling fish to stay in synch, I think.
  11. Personally I find them rather cheap by looking for them on http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites.html . I just got a 10 gallon with hood, lights, filter, heater, and spare bulb for $10. Just look up the closest city to you. There's ALWAYS someone trying to get rid of a tank.
  12. the 20 gallon tank i bought from wal mart before cost about $140.. and thats the cheapest one i could find there usually really expensive.
