What are good broadway shows for teens in New York City?

For a 14 and 11 year old and two adults.

  1. Go see Wicked. It is the story of the witches from the wizard of Oz. Different skew on the old classic.
  2. Take them to see Wicked. It's a story that runs parallel to the Wizard of Oz (something most kids would have seen.) siding with The wicked witch of the west's story. the music is amazing and the twists in the tale just make it awe inspiring. they will love it!
  3. Look at the reviews . Read the book . Most Broadway are for everyone . My friends have gone to Broadway shows since they where 5 years old every holiday. Just make sure your children have good manners. Start taking them to local shows at the high school or college. Dress up like you are going to a Wedding or Church .
  4. Wicked. It's the story of the wicked witch of the west while she was in school. It explains how the two witches of Oz knew each other before the events of The Wizard of Oz.
  5. Wicked Hairspray Tarzan Les Miserables And if the 11 is pretty mature for their age, I'd check out Rent.
  6. ~Rent. It is incredible. Deffinitly contains mature subjects, but has great music. ~Hairspray. It is so much fun and will make you basically pee your pants with all the jokes and costumes and hairdo's. ~Wicked. AMAZING music.. if your looking for a mystical musical... definetly see wicked. ~Legally Blonde! its a new teen comedy musical. CHECK IT OUT!
  7. hmmm, I would check out RENT, thought it may be a little mature for the 11 year-old. It's a great story with a powerful message, so I highly reccomend it. It involves drugs, sex, sexually transmitted diseases, strippers, transvestites, lesbians, and prostitution, so if you are offended by any themes listed above, I would avoid it.
  8. I think a phenomenal option is Mary Poppins. I grew up on the movie and the books (don't know if you've seen it) and the musical is simply amazing. It's a bit long (3 hours or so), but with the youngest being an 11 year old, I think you'll be fine. The show never drags, and the talent in it is amazing. I'm not sure if the original cast members are still in it, I saw it in December and they were still there, so it's possible. It's completely squeaky clean, and very very funny. The music is incredibly catchy and the set is amazing. Definitely recommend it.
  9. Mary Poppins Legally Blonde Wicked Tarzan Beauty and the Beast Lion King The Little Mermaid
