Exhibits, Shows and Displays

Can you give me some info about Broadway shows?

We'll be in NYC this summer and want to see some shows. I've heard there are no bad seats and wonder if that's true or if we need to pay top dollar for better seats. If we got the cheaper seats we could see more than a couple shows. We want to get advance tickets rather than 1/2 price tickets because we have our heart set on certain shows. Thanks for your help. NYers are the greatest!

  1. Check out : http://www.broadway.com/
  2. You can do a general internet search for discounts. But TDF.ORG usually has some good ones. There is also broadway.com
  3. my broadway experience was kinda lame.i went to see hairspray last year.i imagined it being like in Annie when she went to see one.it was nothing like that nobody dressed up.we did.i wore a nice dress and heals but some ppl were in denim skirts and tanks.:( the show was amazing though.the most beautiful acting, singing and dancing.it was GREAT! the seats we got were $100 each and they were in the back but we could see everything.u cant really see their facial expressions as much but u can clearly hear and see them. if u see a show with big name actors then the more expensive the tickets will be.we saw one with big names and got some what expensive tickets for a back seat but it was awesome.the theaters are all different but still good.let me make it a little simple:big name actors=more expensive even for back seats.no big names=less expensive for back seats the front seats of any show regardless of actors are expensive.duh have a wonderful time!
  4. Phantom has bad seats. If you're in the back under the balcony you can't see the chandaleer once they raise it from the stage. I didn't know it was still there until it reappeared later. Kind of ruined the effect. But generally you get a great view pretty much anywhere. I've sat in the front and the back and while the front is better, I've enjoyed the back of the balcony just as much if it's a good show. The one caveat on that is the sides too close to the front. You miss the back part of the stage on the side close to you. In some shows that's pretty important. Better to sit further back rather than really close but all the way at one end. Cheeper that way too.
  5. If you need specific help you can e-mail me using the contact link and I can provide greater assistance. Otherwise, try out Playbill.com. On the left hand side near the top it talks about being part of the Playbill Club. Join. It's free and it provides you with tons of discount code to see a lot popular shows. Shows such as Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, Wicked and a few others ARE NOT offered through this site, and Saturday evenings are generally not included with the discount. There are usually pretty good seats at the lower price levels, just make sure you read everything about the seat before buying it. For example, you can get 60 dollars tickets for Wicked, but it's a partial view seat. Avoid the very front of the theatre on the sides at all costs, especially the extreme sides. Same goes for box seating, it's not usually worth the price if you want to have a nice evening out. If you have questions about specific shows, just e-mail me and let me know, I can give you a lot of free advice on the different shows and theatres/prices.
