Is there a program that displays all the required codecs to run a video clip?
I downloaded an avi clip that displays but does not produce sound because the codec is missing. Is there a program that can read the AVI and tell me which codecs I need?

- Hi there. I use a wonderful program that's small in size, it's called GSpot. It can be downloaded from this link: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ Hope this helps!
- video impression 2.0
- Windows media player which comes with all windows PC. most avi i seen uses divx.
- i use a program called video inspector. you drag the clip into the window, and it displays what codecs you have, and what you need also. it works great.
- G-spot codec information program is the one that I use. It will tell you the codec the file requires, it will also tell you if you have that particular codec installed. Most likely you do not have the AC3 or MP3 codec installd for your video player. Do a search for "Kazaa Lite codec pack" which is a collection of utilities and codecs for video files, the basic pack even includes G-spot. Installing this pack of codecs will also solve your audio issue as it includes both of the audio codec's I mentioned previously.
- Yes there is this perfect codec pack that i use....Download this k-lite (standard) i have mentioned below. So once you visit this site download only k-lite (standard)...not other codecs. Hope this helps:)
- G-spot at http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ and you need to install Ac3 codec for most doubly sounds decoding. Try ffdshow's website but don't install too many codec which will do harm than helping to solve problem.
