Exhibits, Shows and Displays

Why the hell do grocery store put those stupid displays in the middle of the aisles?

It's so difficult to maneuver a full cart when the grocery store is busy anyway and then they go and keep adding these silly cardboard displays with items on it throughout the aisles. Usually someone manages to knock one over whenever I'm there. Is it supposed to annoy us so much that we'll feel compelled to purchase the items on it? Whoever thought of this marketing tactic is a moron! Ok, I'm finishing ranting about something completely unimportant in our lives. Thanks.

  1. Well you notice them.
  2. i know how you feel and those stupid things they put in front of the cash registers are even wworse
  3. for many reasons: 1. to attract more customers to the certain area 2. because they are on sale this weak 3. because they watch people on the servalence cameras and they want to see people trip and fall. GROCERY STORE CLERKS ARE MEAN!!!
  4. uhmmm... maybe because THEY CAN! on a serious-er note I have no idea thats a great question!
  5. Believe it or not, they're actually called 'trippers'. They put them there specifically to slow you down, so you'll take more notice of things on the shelves, as well as the products on the display itself. They don't WANT us racing through the store, just buying what we need and then getting out. They want us to slow down, the slower we go, the more we buy. Or so the marketers say.
  6. It is to put more products and a pain in the butt. Someone will always stop and spend 5 minutes reading the instructions on a can and you can't get passed.
  7. I am completely with you on this one. I ALWAYS knock one over. They're annoying! Another thing I think is annoying are those *kiddy carts* that a parent can attach to their shopping cart. They take up the whole aisle and when I try politely to pass them, they always give me a dirty look, like it's MY fault.
  8. For impulse buying I think really like the little items in the shelves too. Like pop and they put bottle openers, or dish washing soap they put scrubbers. I know I have to wheel my shopping cart around them too. really annoying I agree.
  9. It's all about space. And, it's uses. The whole point is to get consumers to walk past sale and clearance items. If you don't see it, and see the good deal, you won't know it's there. Therefore, you won't buy up the stock they need to get rid of. Or, it's a conspiracy to see how many questions it will raise on this site.. LOL!!!
