What do stores do with their old window displays?

I was walking by a Mac store and I saw that they had some really cool displays of iPod nanos in their window. What do companies such as Apple usually do with these displays once they replace them with new displays for more current products? They would have no more use for them. Are they thrown away or sold? And where would i be able to get or buy one?
