Why do plasma and lcd tv stands cost so much?

I shopped around looking for a tv stand for my 50 inch plasma tv and found that majority of them cost $200 on up. Today I seen a basic looking stand at Best Buy and was shocked to learn that the price was $799. That's crazy! It seems like the people who make the tv stands know we want the stands and they're just putting any price on them even though the items are not even worth that much.

  1. yea i know they are expensives but they take care bout ur eyes then which one"! ill which my eyes.... well i did... bye♥
  2. Try shopping in a regular furniture store for an appropriate looking stand. They are likely to be cheaper there because that's all they sell is furniture. In an electronics store there is always a huge markup on large items like this.
  3. Yeah, I work at Circuit City, I think it's because we carry so much electronics, that we don't really focus on furniture. We don't specialize in it, but we stock them as a customer conveniance. It costs quite a bit to stock them because they take up alot of space in our warehouse, and on the floor. Another reason I'm thinking, is because when customers come in, they usually want the FULL solution, so they're willing to pay more than whats fair to get it when they buy their TV. So yes, I would suggest a Furniture store. They have much fairer prices. Hope this answers your question :3
  4. The TV stands should for a 50" plasma should cost between $200-$300. If you spend any less, it's going to break. If you spend any more, you are wasting your money. You have to understand that 50" plasma weighs about 150 lbs. Plus, these stands have thick pieces of glass. Cheap press board is not going to support that kind of weight. I recommend the Z-Line series. It has a futuristic look with glass shelves. I personally spent $300 for my TV stand and $200 for my component rack for my 50" plasma TV. Then, spend another $2000 on components and sound system. If you are going to build a home theater, do it right. Don't be cheap about it.
