If Michael Bloomberg stands in the Presidential Race will he take away the votes of the Democrats?
If he stands as a third party which he is planning to do.

- It depends who the nominees on either side are . . . I've thought about it . . . Hillary yes . . . Obama and Edwards no. Romney and McCain yes. . . Huckabee no.
- Michael Bloomberg is as unelectable as any of the others..... we have the losers from hell this time around so who cares...
- He has Billions of dollars but doesn't have mass appeal. The American people rightfully decided you cannot buy a Presidential election !!
- He's not planning on running, but he will probably take votes from both parties. Who he takes more from depends upon who is nominated.
- I doubt he will impact the race beyond a few voters in New York that are more interested in the reality TV schedule than the welfare of a nation.
- According to Newsweek, they think Bloomberg may take votes away from the Republicans. In addition. they're thinking that Chuck Hagel would be a good Veep.
- Most likely considering that he would be a liberal candidate.
- It will also depend on who he runs with, what he says, and how he positions himself politically. He would naturally draw votes from any other candidate who is from New York.
- It depends. If the Republican's get a candidate who is anti-immigration completely (Huckabee or Romney) the result will be the business wing of the Republican party throwing their support fully behind Bloomberg meaning he splits the Republican vote. He'll take about 5% from dems across the board but offers to take up to 30% of the Republicans across the nation. The risk is much more damaging to the Republicans of a Bloomberg run. However, the biggest fear is not him taking votes from any party in any individual contest but Bloomberg might actually win one of the major contests: New York or California are most likely. Now, unless it ends up being a landslide everywhere else, if he wins one big state the result will be that both parties will try to get him to help them. We might see parliamentary coalition politics in America (isn't that nuts!?!?). The result will be Bloomberg gets to name 2-5 (depending on the importance of the votes he brings to the electoral college) members of the cabinet and maybe even get the VP seat (remember just because a campaign runs a VP doesn't mean he'll/she'll get through the electoral college). Can you say Secretary of Defense Hegel? Anyway, its not very likely that he'll hurt either party across the board but put his eggs in one or two baskets and try to change the electoral college outcome. It would be fun!
- To answer your question; Bloomberg may take away votes from Hillary / Democrats giving New York and some swing states to Rudy or Mitt, should he run for president. But he does not stand a chance of winning the election.
