Are all surround sound speaker stands universal? Do they make different ones for different speakers?
I have no idea what sony speakers I have but I want to buy two stands to put them behind my couch. I see on Ebay that they are usually listed by brand, but aren't my Sony speakers a different shape and size than other Sony speakers? Does anyone know a good website that can help me make sure I purchase the right stand.

- A stand is a stand is just a fancy chunk of metal. There are no special stands for specific brands of speakers. The only thing you should be concerned about is getting one that's large enough hold your speaker without tipping over. Seriously, your speakers won't explode or anything if you put them on a non-Sony stand. It's just a stand - just buy the cheapest one that will still hold your speaker. Even a table would work.
- Hi, There are some speakers which will work well with their own stands. Yet, Bose makes a speaker stands which are specific to Bose cubes. Onkyo had one for a particular Onkyo speaker. Look at the speaker if it has a special design. Then probably there's a special stand for it. Some manufacturers have special designs with adapters to fit various model of speakers. Just take a look around and see if the speaker you want are designed specially if not any speaker stand will do.
- Go to the Sony website and see if they have anything specific for your speaker model. But really you should be able to use most speaker stands for your speakers IF they are rated to hold the weight of your speakers. You can look at any electronics store (bestbuy.com or circuitcity.com) and do a search there. Just make sure they can hold the weight of your speakers.
- Different ones are available...
