Has anybody been to Gunther Von Hagens Bodyworks exhibits?

I went to see Bodyworks 4 @ Science and Industry Museum in Manchester and found it fsacinating....if you`ve been would you consider donating your body? Yes, thay are actually real bodies and they are plastinated to show the inner workings etc. I bought the book...wow it was mind blowing.

  1. I haven't been yet but am going - and I would LOVE to donate my body! I watched his Channel 4 series and it was AWESOME! I learned a lot ;-)
  2. I saw it here in Seoul aboul 10 years ago. It's...interesting. But NO, I would NOT donate my body for such a thing. Have you seen how this type of exhibition has become quite controversial lately with questions about where the bodies really come from.
  3. yes I've been a while ago in london.. While I liked the medical exhibits very much I thought the "artsy" exhibits very tacky.I liked best the resin embedded body sections. For the posed bodies, while they are interesting I didn't realize before I saw them the poses aren't helpful to study the contribution of different muscles to that poses. Their contraction status is not related to the pose held and the processing of the tissue causes a lot of shrinkage artifacts. Still I thought the plastinized horse awseome. But I would not consider donating my body for this. The medical part yes, but I am not donating my body so somebody can do bad art with it.
  4. i've been its freeking cool, looks awesome, very interesting to look at, and it may convince people to stop smoking, the forms of the body are absolutly amazing, i've wanted to see it since i was like 9 im 22 now and just went about 2 years ago, worth it to the max, it was a great experience for me a once in a life time, unless i can help it. you may even get to touch some organs kinda cool.
  5. yep. about 5 yrs ago. i wouldnt ever donate my body for such a thing. and i found the exhibit generally interesting but really creepy.
  6. I have always wanted to see one of Gunther's exhibits, thank you for reminding me of him, and where to see his work. I have put a link below, to some interesting pictures of his work, most fascinating, and extremely skillful, and certainly most thought provoking. As for donating my body, why not, as this is one way of remaining some what immortal .
