What to do if your dog exhibits bloody diarrhea...?
and you don't have enough money for a vet bill? If you send him to a shelter as a last resort could they cite you for animal cruelty since you can't afford to take him to a vet? Some of you posters should calm down and not be so quick to assume awful things about me because of a QUESTION. I asked about a dead puppy because I'm curious to know what would happen in that situation, not because my puppy has died. It does have the diarrhea though, and I don't have any money. The dog was actually bought with my husband who has all the control of the money. Right now we are in a bad marriage and he refuses to take the dog to the vet leaving me with that responsibility. Since our money is separate and my account is less than $100, I can't afford to do it by myself, hence the consideration of giving it away to a shelter. And my concern about SPCA stems from having that situation before from some I guess jealous neighbor. The person that came to our house even said the dog and its environment was fine. This happened with the last dog that we ended up selling.

- im not sure but try everything to get it to a vet!
- didnt you just ask about the dead puppy?
- You should not have a dog if you cant afford to care for it. Your dog needs to see a Vet so I think you really need to find a better home for it- if you really love your dog. I think you know that this is true- sorry. And it is animal abuse not to.
- No, you'd very unlikely get charged as long as you try to do SOMETHING to help your pup! Some will help you treat the pup and let you work it off in volunteer work, if the pup is cureable. In some cases, such as if your puppy has parvo, they will at least put the pup to sleep so it doesn't suffer. If your pup needs help, go ask for it. It's much better than letting the pup die a slow death while doing nothing.
- No they won't but my dog had the same thing and thy put her on a diet I was only able to by food a with a Rx and the exam and medicine they gave her was $75.00 and the food I had to by her for a week had cost me about $23.00 that was 7 canned foods and a 4 pound bag of dry food . You can maybe see if the vet can work a payment plan for you or something else it would be sad if you just gave th dog to the shelter . Just try talking to the vet about the payment plan or something else where you would be able to pay for the treatment .
- Call your local shelter and see if there is a low cost clinic near you. Bloody diarrhea could be anything, hopefully it's an easy fix. All the best. Sorry your puppy is sick;~(
- did the "dead puppy" have diarrhea too? maybe they had the same thing and maybe you SHOULD be investigated for cruelty or at least neglect. take any animals you have and take them to your local humane society, animal shelter, whatever you have in your are and do NOT get another animal until you have both the brains and the money to take care of them
- At least take him to find out what it is. Could be something as simple as parasites.
- You don't have the money for a vet bill, but you have Internet access, huh? Here is the thing, you made a commitment to your dog. There is NO SUCH THING as "Can't afford a vet bill" there is only "I don't want to give up all the things I would have to give up in order to pay a large vet bill. So instead I am going to let this animal that loves me suffer and die." You work out a deal with the vet. many/most will do payment plans. If you have to you cancel your Internet, your cable, and anything else that is a monthly payment that you don't NEED (I.E. you NEED to pay your Rent/mortgage, car payment, water and power bills and make minimum payment on any credit cards or other loans NOTHING ELSE) you DON'T eat out, go out to venues or events that cost money, buy anything new You eat cheap food for as long as it takes to scrape some money out of your food budget. if you have to you sell some of your stuff. there is NO SUCH THING AS "I CAN'T AFFORD A VET BILL."
- Borrow the d@mn $$$$ & take your dog to the vet!!! I never understand people saying their dogs are sick & they can't take them to the vet!!! People that can not afford a pet should never get one!!! The dog is the one that are neglected!!!
- Take him to the vet!!!! Even if you cant afford it...ask family and friends to loan u some money and tell them you will pay them back as soon as you can!!!! You can not just let your dog suffer!! The vet will understand!!
