Why are glass aquarium stands hollow in the middle? The one I have, and all the other stands I've seen don't have a panel for the whole aquarium bottom to be supported. The aquarium just sits on its rims with nothing to support the very bottom of it. Why is that?

aquarium stands? i asked a question a few days ago and i got some good answers i just want to be completely sure though. i bought a stand from my local pet store and they guy said it would be fine for my 29 gallon glass fish tank. its iron and its really sturdy, but it only supports the edges and the 4 corners of my tank with nothing holding the bottom except for on the edges and corners. the answers i got before said it would be fine if its a glass tank. i just need to make sure. does anyone out there have the same kind of stand on a tank that size or bigger? please help i want to make sure it will hold it before i get a lot of water on my floor.lol i just want to make sure that the tank will not get stressed and leak from just having support on the edges and corners. it is iron and supports all of the edges and corners but not the underneath of it. thanks a lot you guys

Is it possible to build an Aquarium stand out of Cinder Blocks and Plywood? I have a 40 gallon aquarium and had it on a sturdy desk(or so I thought) and today the desk buckled and was causing my tank to be un-level. Bought a 30 gallon metal Aquarium Stand for my 45 gallon. Will this stand hold the weight? The stand has the scroll front leg supports. Its one of the stands where you can put two (2) of the same size tanks on. 30 gallon tank is 36"L X 12" W X 16" H. 45 gallon is 36"L X 12" W X 24" H.

how can I build a really simple aquarium stand? Problem is, I don't have a saw, etc.... I was thinking of buying premade cabinets at lowes, like a double cabinet for a bathroom sink or something...and putting a solid marble top on it...and then setting the aquairium on that. Aquarium Stand and Fireplace? I have a huge aquarium stand. It's about as tall as a fireplace mantle (it holds a 75 gallon tank). It has a 2 door cabinet/storage area on the bottom, but I don't keep anything in there. I was thinking about removing the doors and putting a firebox in the cabinet space. Do these things generate enough heat that it would burn the stand? Like I said, the thing is already the size of a fireplace mantle. And I wanted to buy one of those portable fireplace mantles, but then I figured I'd have 2 competing focal points. I figured that since the aquarium stand is as tall as a mantle anyway, I could just remove the doors and slide a firebox in there. What do you guys think?

should i put feet underneath the stand of my aquarium? i have a 6ft aquarium stand and hood. at the moment i am waiting for a new tank to be made because the removal men broke it :( A few of the plastic feet had ben ripped off the bottom of the tank stand. Should i replace these before the new tank arrives or is it not necessary? I am extremely upset about the tank braking, infuriated is a better way of putting it. All the fish are currently in about 6 huge plastic tubs with filteration. We have lost two though. :(

Does an oak colored aquarium stand look out of place if all my other furniture is dark wood? My TV armoire and bookshelf are dark espresso colored wood. How can I build a tidepool like the one at Monterey bay aquarium? I want to know how I can I build a tidepool in a back yard. I want a machine that causes water to move gently back and forth like small waves. If you ever been to Monterey bay aquarium, they have a small wave machine in one area with a lttle bit of sand. Basic aquarium question? um well im redoing my room and my current aquarium stand isnt going to work, where can i get a stylish cabinet type thing that holds about 260ish pounds? theres none at IKEA. i want a long kinda low cabinet that can hold my 29 gallon aquarium on top of it. please and thanks. o and i might be able to buuuild one, so could you esplain to me how i could do that, it has to be able to hold my 29 galon aquarium and it has to have some storage.

aquarium stand? my local fish store sold me a stand made of iron for my 29 gallon tank. they said it would hold my tank full and everything i was just curious as if i should take it back? it only supports the weight of the edges of the fish tank. It only has supports on the sides of the tank, none run through the middle. it seams strong on the sides, but is it okay to set a full 29 gallon tank on something like this with nothing holding it in the middle of the tank? thanks

I would like to build my own aquarium stand? I want to build a stand for a 20 g long, but i want the stand to be forty inches tall and i am just wondering how wide of a base i should have on the stand because thats alot of weight for about a 14 inch width. I was thinking 14 inches would be good until i started thinking about 200 hundred or so pounds sitting on 14 inches of base, and if that is on carpet i have a feeling it might topple over, if anyone has a stand this high or a similar situation any input would be great thanks it is actually much cheaper to build on yourself if you have some of the materials on hand which i do, i really am really just afraid of it tipping on the carpet with a flat base your iron stands have small feet which sink in to the carpet to make it more secure

Price suggestions on 200 Gallon Aquarium with Oak Stand? I was just wondering if anyone could tell me a fair price to pay for a 200 gallon aqaurium with oak trim and an oak stand. My roomate is wanting to sell it to me for 600 dollars, and considering it is used, and I would have to do some massive cleaning to turn it into a fish aquarium from a snake cage, I just dont know if that is a fair price to pay, but then again I really dont know the price on these things, I am new to the world of keeping fish. If anyone could let me know if this would be a fair price or not, and if not could give me another price to bargain with I would really appreciate the help. I would rather not get screwed out of 600 dollars. Thanks again! The only thing I will be getting if I purchase it will be the aquarium and the stand. No extras for a fish setup of any kind, right now he has a snake in it, the only thing I am going to be getting with it will be a hood that I am going to have to change out the lighting on. I was thinking about saltwater, me and my husband have a small 2.5 gallon setup right now with freshwater tropical fish, but we thought that a saltwater setup of that size would look really nice, we know it is going to cost a lot of money, but right now I just want to get the basics. What is the best filtration for a 125 gallon aquarium? (Saltwater)? I am starting another SW aqaurium soon it will be a 125 gallon aquarium, I want to know what type of filtration is best? Also send links, for protein skimmers, filters, light, anything! How much live rock will I need? How many powerheads, what type? What should I be expecting to pay for JUST the aquarium and stand? Are overflows the way to go??? Also do over flows need to be built in from the factory or can you buy one to just insert? I will probably start out with a F-O-W-L-R system first then slowly go into reefs. What are the best products? I have had saltwater aquariums so I am not clueless on this subject, but I have never had one this size. Any help would be great!

20 gallon aquarium...what is the best kind of stand to buy for it? I just bought a 20 gallon aquarium tonight. Now I'm trying to figure out where to set it.
