Why do plasma and lcd tv stands cost so much? I shopped around looking for a tv stand for my 50 inch plasma tv and found that majority of them cost $200 on up. Today I seen a basic looking stand at Best Buy and was shocked to learn that the price was $799. That's crazy! It seems like the people who make the tv stands know we want the stands and they're just putting any price on them even though the items are not even worth that much.

Anyone else own a Samsung plasma TV that had the stand snap? We've owned our 58" Samsumg plasma TV (PN58b860Y2F) for a little under 2 years. While watching TV today, the stand suddenly gave out and the TV came crashing to the floor. The stand cracked right at the base! We are working with Samsung to hopefully get a replacement but the outcome is still foggy. This TV was well taken care of - never bumped or rough handled. It's always seemed a bit wobbly though. Anyone share a simular experience?

Is it better to secure it on the tv stand and wall with earthquake straps or get one of the wall mounted frames and do it that way?

The tv wits around level with the top of the radiator, and is about 6 inches in front. Alas there is nowhere else for my tv, and moving the radiator is a pain. As of right now I am only able to play the kinect 1 player and thats kind of hard with the distance. Looking for TV entertainment center / stand / anchor for 50" LCD or Plasma TV? I'd like something that can hold various components like cable box and DVD player. I want it to have the 50" TV mounted or anchored in such a way so it can't be knocked off or tipped over by my rambunctious son. Ideally, I think it would be an entertainment center that has a stand coming up from the back that the TV would mount to. Can you point me to where I could find such an item?
Is it ok to mount a 60" Plasma tv on the wall? My husband and I just bought our first house. We are trying to figure out if we should buy a tv stand for our 60" plasma tv or if we should mount it on the wall. We did look into different mounting units and how much the tv weighs and how much the mounts can hold. My only concern is we have Verizon Fios and we need our cable box out. I looked online and saw people put tv stands under the tv once it is mounted on the wall, but I don't like that. Use one or the other. So is there any kind of shelf we should use or just a regular shelf would be ok...any suggestions?
Is it OK to lay flat a Plasma TV, even for a few seconds? I just bought a new Plasma TV. On the box it says to transport the TV in a vertical way. Now, in order to install it and attach the stand on the underside of the TV I need to lay it flat, just for a few seconds. Is this OK, or should this be avoided at all cost? I don't want to ruin my TV even before it's installed. Any ideas anyone?
I have a Hitachi Plasma TV and the blue light on the TV blinks three times. What does that mean? I have a Hitachi P42H401 Plasma TV (42") When the tv was working fine it would go from red (off/standby) to solid blue(on) and the tv would be working. Now it goes from red to blue and there is no video and I hear the sound for like 3 seconds and the tv goes into some kind of stand by mode where theres no video or sound and the blue just blinks 3 times and then stops and then blink 3 more times and keeps doing that until I hold the power button on the tv panel (not on remote control I cant turn it back off with the remote control) and then it turns red (off). Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or whats wrong? The manual says the blue light blinking three times means(When IR receives one signal from R/C)what does that mean? And remember there is no video but sound for 3 seconds when I turn it on but then the sound is also gone and the light just blinks and I cant see anything on the screen or pull up any kind of menu or anything. Please help me ASAP I need to watch a fooball game.
How can I stop my plasma TV from buzzing? I've just bought a 42" LG plasma TV, it's great but it makes a really loud buzzing noise when it's on, it's driving me insane, I'm not gonna be able to handle it for any length of time. I know that they make some level of noise but this is ridiculous! It's not on the wall or close to a hard surface, it's sitting on a glass stand in the corner of the room but it's still too loud. Is there any way I can dampen the noise or buy some sort of equipment to reduce it?
I bought a 50 inch plasma tv at venue.com and want to order a tv stand? I found a really cool tv stand/entertainment center at homevisions.com. Does it matter if the tv hangs out a little bit on the edges? I was going to buy two aluminum jack stands to put underneath each end to hold it sturdier if this would help. The tv shelf measures 38 3/4 w x 30 1/2 h x 15 1/4 depth. So it would probably stick out about 5.625 inches on each side. If you want to check it out it is #UI75701 on the homevisions.com website. Don't buy them all out though before I get the money to buy one for myself! I love the unique design of it.
How wide does a flat-panel TV stand need to be? All the plasma and LCD TV stands I see imply that a stand should be as wide as the TV itself. I can understand a weight maximum for safety's sake, but is there any reason why a stand needs to be wider than the actual base of the TV, instead of the screen of the TV?
Can a 42 inch plasma standa go with a 32 inch lcd tv? I have a 32 inch samsung LCD TV...my uncle recently bought a 42 inch panasonic plasma that comes with a tv stand for wall mounting....he doesn't need it but i am wondering will the stand go with my 32 inch LCD? Thanx!!:)

Not sure what size TV stand to get for 50" Plasma TV? I am about to purchase a 50" plasma TV. But the stand that I want for it says that it accommodates most 42" TV's. It says that it'll hold up to 180 lbs and i hear this TV i'm getting weighs about 120 lbs... should I be okay or do I need one for a 50" TV?
Why is the picture on my plasma tv snowy? I just got a brand new 32'' RCA plasma screen tv... my cable provider came out and got me the high definition cable box so it would fit the format of my screen, but the picture still looks snowy to me! My mom and dad insist that it is " fine " but I cant stand the snowy fuzzy look of my picture... I can tell there is something up with it... I am used to having a regular tv so is this just the way plasmas are or is there something wrong with my tv? Please help..
Should you lay a plasma tv flat? I had a tv repair service come to my home to fix my plasma under my best buy 4 year in home warranty. I have always heard that plasma screens should not be tilted beyond certain degree. Yet when the repair guy came he took the plasma off the stand and laid it flat on the living room rug while he was working on it. I am just questioning if the guy knew what he was doing especially since he never fixed the inital problem I was having. So now he has to order more parts and come back again.
How do I stop my Panasonic plasma TV from interfering with the tv set top box remote signal? I have a Panasonic VIESA 42" plasma TV. Underneath the TV I have a set top cable box. The plasma TV interferes with the cable box remotes signal. By interferes I mean I usually have to hit a button several times on the remote in order to get it to function once when using the cable box. When I use the cable box remote on the plasma TV it works fine. I have tried using a different cable box and still have the same problems. If I use the box on a different TV in my house it works perfect. It does work fine when I have the cable box away 7-10 feet from the TV. I bought a TV stand so I could set both the TV and cable box on though. The cable guy told me that glass is interfering with the cable box remote signal. He suggested trying to move my glass clock and mirror that were near the TV but that didn’t solve the problem. So we figure it’s the TV’s glass. I tried putting scotch tape over the TVs sensor (recommended by a friend) and that didn’t solve the problem either. Has anyone else encountered this problem or know a solution besides having my cable box 10 feet away from the TV? Thanks
Plasma TV 50" LG need to find out which screws attach the TV to the mount/stand? Sounds easy, unfortunately LG provide you with 10 sets of different screws, we have found that at least 4 sets fit but there are other plastic moulding that need to attach. If anyone has purchased the LG 50" plazma, your help would be very much appreciated instructions clearly state that if screw goes in to far then the tv will be damaged
Can I lay my plasma TV on its side? Will this damage the tv? If i can lay it down, do I need to let it stand upright for a period of time before turning it on? I need to transport it to a convention, and I'm going to be driving it down in a van for two days.
Can you bring a 50 inch Plasma TV home in an SUV? Getting one at Wal-Mart this week and they don't deliver. Will it fit in a SUV? Some one told me that they had to be stood up and couldn't be laid down flat. Has anyone ever used a SUV for this task? Hate to use a pickup.
How strong are the screens on the LCD/plasma screens (UK)? Have been looking at the lcd/plasma flat screen hd tv say 32-37 screens. We have a 5yr old child in the house and i was wondering how strong are these screens to knocks and bumps, or even general fingermarks being removed. Wall hanging would be difficult due to seating locations so a tv on a stand placed in the corner of the room is more ideal. I see that plasma tv have a glass screen, lcd seem more flimsy. General thoughts and ideas please!
Did you answer my question last week on Plasma vs LCD TV? I want to thank everyone on the advice. Last week I bought a Sharp 46" LCD TV. It was on sale for $2,299 ($500 off regular price). It was a little pricey for my budget, but it's supposed to be the best flat big screen around, so I treated myself. Of course after the extended warranty, special cable, TV stand & taxes I ended up spending $2,900. After connecting my surround sound system to the new TV it was awsome.
Improving the sound on a 42 inch Panasonic Plasma? I am looking for a 2.1 home cinema system to improve the sound on my Panasonic Plasma TV. Only thing is the TV is on the Panasonic stand. I do not want to have speakers on the wall. Any suggestions on any systems with speakers small enough that could sit on the glass shelf of the TV?
Stand for 50in Plasma? Any ideas on where to find a good TV stand for a 50in Plasma TV...im looking for something black that can hold over 100lbs and not outragously expensive.
Plasma TV's: unstable and difficult to calibrate? I found this great deal on a Vizio 42" plasma TV at Circuit City. When I went to buy it, I got a huge pitch from the sales guy that ultimately translated to me needing to spend an extra $500 (or more). Here are some of the things he said: 1) Plasma TV's are unstable for the first 5 years. If nothing goes wrong in that time, they should last a total of about 30 years. (He said this in hopes of selling me the 5 year service plan.) 2) Without proper calibration by an expert or someone who knows about "deeper menus", the TV will not transition well between normal viewing and DVD or video game viewing. (He wanted me to purchase the in-home professional set-up.) 3) Even packaged in their original boxes, plasma TV's cannot be laid flat for transit -- they have to remain standing up. (He wanted me to have the TV delivered in their truck instead of transported in my car.) Is any of this true? Or was I just fed a load of crap so he could make more money on commission?
Mount Plasma/LCD on Wall or use TV Stand? Hi, I am trying to determine if I should mount my TV on the wall again or go with a TV stand. I am leaning towards the TV stand because I find it easier to get to the back of the TV when it is NOT mounted. Also, when it is mounted you still have to store your cable box, dvd player and receiver and since I am in an apartment I can't fish the walls to hide the wiring. On the flip side I do have a mounting bracket that does tilt so the viewing angle can be nicely adjusted, it looks cool on the wall and saves space. Thoughts? Pros/Cons?
After hanging my TV on the wall what do I do with the receiver? I put my plasma tv on the wall but I still have a stand for my dvd player and my directv receiver. I thoght the point in hanging it on the wall was to eliminate the stand. What the hell should I do with the rest of it hang it sideways on the wall next to it?
Why does my 42inch Samsung plasma have a blurry red picture? For the last month my samsung plasma tv has been giving me issues. At first, half the screen would go black. So I called Samsung to get it repaired. But when I got it back a week later, the same problem reoccured. Except now, half the screen would go white instead of black with a few red pixels in the white... and just today I turned it on and the whole image on the TV is blurry and smudged with scattered reds and blues. The company that initially repaired it told me that it was because the TV was mounted on a wall, but even after taking it off the wall and putting it on the stand, the problem ensues. Any ideas?
Buying a new tv with a limited budget...? I have found a 34" Sony Widescreen HDTV CRT(Tube) that is one year old for $600 with the tv stand. I have read great reviews about this tv and how it rivals those of high end plasma tv's. Just wanted your advice on this purchase. Thanks I was told he is selling it because he got a plasma during the christmas season

Could someone tell me whats wrong with this plasma tv? This is a tv on ebay at the moment, and im just wondering what i will need to do to fix it if i purchase it. Is it worth it? how much would you pay? FAULTY Hitachi 42PMA400A 42" Plasma Display. Will not turn on when cold. Briefly heating Xsus board with hair dryer will result in normal operation. Which TV is the best? Plasma, CRT Rear-Projection,or LCD flat panel? I need to buy an HDTV, and I want 1080p for my PS3 because PS3's quality on a regular TV is extremely poor. I did a lot of research and it comes down to 3 tvs. Should I choose the $4500 Pioneer Elite Pro-FHD1 Plasma, 50" 1080p (This TV is on sale. Original Price is $5500) with stand and speakers included. The $4000 Sony 52" KDL-52XBR3 or the $900 Philips 60" 60PP9200D37 CRT Rear projection 1080p. I'll use them mainly for movies and sports, occasionally for gaming and seldom for news (cbs, nbc etc.) Which TV produces the best picture, most accurate color temp, easiest to calibrate and has the least problems?
cleaning plasma tv? we recently put our plasma on the wall but before that it was on a stand and our son has put dirty finger prints on it how would i get them of without buying a special solution?
TV Stand Ideas? Ok i want to buy a tv stand for my 50" plasma, but i am having a small problem finding the style i would like. The living room has a fireplace when facing the main wall (kitchen is behind the living room, to the left are two windows and to the right is a staircase). I would like to have the tv above the fireplace itself, so it can be seen and so am looking for a stand that will have two poles off to the side and then the tv is mounted or placed on top of the two. Ideas are aprecciated and i will put up a diagram of the fireplace in a minute. Thanks, NNZ Here is a fireplace diagram (not the greatest): http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii302/nnz120491/Slide1.jpg Here is my idea: http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii302/nnz120491/Slide2.jpg All ideas are appreciated (<not sure if spelled right) The house will be a permanent residence, and i thought of mounting it on the wall above the fireplace, i would have to drill into the marble, which i am trying to avoid. There is two acres of beautiful scenery and so i dont want to cover the windows and the windows are about 6 ft wide (two of them). My only good options so far is to create my own stand or mount it on the wall.
The future as it stands? I am finding myself concerned about the future. Houses are very expensive! As a community, we seem to be more concerned with buying new plasma tv's and the latest toys than health and the future, we are spending our lives working to give money to the banks! What are your thoughts?

How far can you put a plasma tv from a heating source? I have no other options and its 18 inches from the heat My apartment has central heating that I control, so the heat comes from the radiator that goes along the floor. Its not a singular standing radiator. I dont' know what you call it, its all along one side of the apartment low to the floor from one end to the other. I have the tv about 18 inches from any heat on the right side. There are really not other options just from the way the apartment is structured. If I use some sort of deflector what should it be made of and any ideas where I could get it from? It doesn't seem to be heating up the tv all that much but I want to protect it to be sure.
