Why do plasma and lcd tv stands cost so much? I shopped around looking for a tv stand for my 50 inch plasma tv and found that majority of them cost $200 on up. Today I seen a basic looking stand at Best Buy and was shocked to learn that the price was $799. That's crazy! It seems like the people who make the tv stands know we want the stands and they're just putting any price on them even though the items are not even worth that much.
Does anyone know where to get inexpensive tv stands? I just purchased a DLP Samsung HL61a650, A 61 inch TV. I'm just now realizing how expensive TV stands are. Does any one know if you can find the TV stands that originally come with the TV? I am not taking about the TV stands that you put the TVs on that are furniture or the stands that you can mount to the wall. Many TV stands have mounting brackets. I am planning to buy a 37" flat LCD TV. Will it need mounting brackets? I know the TV will stand without the brackets, but I have a teenage son and a couple big dogs. I even have a cat that may try to jump on it. How wide does a flat-panel TV stand need to be? All the plasma and LCD TV stands I see imply that a stand should be as wide as the TV itself. I can understand a weight maximum for safety's sake, but is there any reason why a stand needs to be wider than the actual base of the TV, instead of the screen of the TV?

Help with TV Stands? I have a 40" Sony XBR4, but for all my knowledge of home AV, I absolutely suck at selecting the furniture for it. I have a loft apartment that I am putting this in, and the TV cannot be mounted to the wall. But we do not want the look of a TV on a table, such as a normal stand or something. I once saw a stand that was basically a base with a pole on it, and then a bracket that the TV could be mounted to. No shelves or anything, and the wires ran inside the pole so that they were concealed. It looked a lot like a speaker stand, but with a VESA TV bracket on it instead. Anyone know what these stands are called, or where I can find them? Thanks.

TV stands for old heavy TVs? We have an old Tube TV from a few years back that is one of those boxy, hundreds of pounds tube TVs and we are trying to find a worthy stand to hold it up. its only like a 32'' TV, but most of the sizable stands from Walmart or such says it only is rated for like 95 pounds. can these stands actually hold one of those up? I don't want to spend 1000 dollars for a TV stand, I was hoping I could take a cheap route but I don't have many easy options to hold this things weight up. A question about TV stands? I know that with TV stands you need to get a stand suitable for size of TV, due to weight, but does width matter with flat screen TV's? For instance, if a 42" lcd measures 100cm wide, does the stand need to be minimum of 100cm wide as well? I'm trying to find a stand for the tv I am getting soon, we saw one that is apparantly suitable for 42", although it is only 90cm wide, leaving a 5cm overhang either side (TV will be 100cm wide). Why are TV stands for flat panel HDTV's so overpriced? Look on any website or go into any store and you are very unlikely to find a decent tv stand for under $100. You are even more unlikely to find one under $50. These things aren't that big, but can cost as much as a cheap LCD TV. Does anyone know of any web site that has decent prices on TV stands? Don't say amazon.com, bestbuy.com, or overstock.com - I've checked those already and they too have pretty expensive TV stands. I just don't think we should have to pay hundreds of dollars on something that we have to put together ourselves.

Bolt won't come loose! New flat screen bolted to TV stand and I need to get it back off again! Help!? I just bought a new flat screen tv and tv stand to bolt it to so the kids wouldn't accidentally knock it down. I realized when I put the bolts in that the tv could be placed higher after i got to looking at the back of the mount. The only problem is...one bolt would come back out and the other turns and turns, but never comes loose. It just keeps turning in place and wont come out. I've tried placing pressure on the bolt and the mount, but even that doesnt help. Any suggestions? I know even if I leave it like this that there is a chance I will need to remove it in the future if we move. I can't believe it won't come free. Ahhh, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The TV weighs about 100 lbs and the 46" TV Stand can hold the weight up to 300 lbs. I guess the screen will just hang over the stand. Do you think that will be safe?

What is the best way to hide all my av wires behind my tv? I currently have a 61 inch DLP on a tv stand with two glass shelves below, consisting of a comcast digital box, center speaker, stereo receiver with 5.1 surround sound speakers, modem and wireless router, xbox 360, and a dvd player. As you can imagine, behind my television looks like a giant rat's nest. I have many ac plugs, speaker wires, a/v cables, computer cables, etc. The xbox 360 ac plug alone looks like a huge brick. The tv stand itself has one center frame where you can hide a few plugs, but not enough room to cover even half the stuff mentioned. Now to the point. Do they sell some sort of 6 inch depth X 6 inch height X 5 foot length cover with holes to hide all this mess in black somewhere? Can this be man-made and still look nice? If it is man-made, is wood okay to use to cover all these electrical wires? Is there any other options? Thanks. FYI Update: Sorry I left this part out. I am renting an apartment and have wood floors. Nothing permanent can be changed to the house structure.
How do I get rid of a mouse who seems to have claims squatters rights under our tv unit. I dont really want? to kill it, but apart from the fact my daughter and I now refuse to go in the room, I really dont want it there from a hygiene point of view. My husband has said he will try it my way until Sunday and then he gets to put the poison and inhumane traps down. I have put a humane trap down but unfortunatley the mouse is far too clever and wont go near it. Anyone got any tried and tested ideas. How to tidy cables behind glass TV stand? We have recently bought a 32" wide screen TV on a silver stand with glass shelf. There are holes at the rear of the stand (which is open plan) for the cables to go through, but because it is open plan at the back you can see the cables on the floor behind the TV. Why are TV wall mount stands SOO EXPENSIVE? I SAW ONE FOR 500 BUCKS!? this was at BesBuy, so maybe an alternative?
Sony TV Stand? hi i have seen these sony bravia tv stands that have all the home theatre and speakers built into it. The Sony RHT-G1000 is an example, though not one that i want. could you find a stand like this (made by sony) that could accomodate the following: Sony Bravia KDL-52X3500 Xbox 360 Elite (via HDMI) Blu-Ray/DVD combo (via HDMI) Sky HD (via HDMI) thanks to all that answer!!
tv stand for 61 inch rca big screen tv? i have one of the older model rca scenuim big screen projection tv's. it is the kind with the thin top that u cant sit anything on. does anyone know if rca makes a stand for this model. i dont have anywhere to put components and the generic stands will have my tv sitting about 6 ft in the air......please help.
Need to find a tall TV stand to see TV from our bed!? Hello Everyone! My wife and I recently purchased a high bed frame along with a high box spring and mattress. One thing we did not take into consideration is how much higher it was and the height limiting our ability to watch our TV while in bed. We are in need of a TV stand that will be high enough for us to see it from the bed. Most TV stands only come in heights from 24" to 27". We need something quite a bit higher and also one that can hold our Philips, flat screen TV that is quite heavy. I have done some searches online and have come up with few options. Does anyone have any advice, and/or suggestions? Thanks! Unfortunately, a wall mount is not an option for us because it is not a plasma or LCD TV. Just a good old fashioned, heavy TV :(
If I made a stand for a flat panel (plasma / LCD) tv would you buy it? I can make a nice stable tv stand for a plamsa or LCD Tv that is only 16" deep. All over stands on the market are over 2 feet deep. How many of you would be looking for something like that so I would know weather to start producing them or not???

TV Stand Ideas? Ok i want to buy a tv stand for my 50" plasma, but i am having a small problem finding the style i would like. The living room has a fireplace when facing the main wall (kitchen is behind the living room, to the left are two windows and to the right is a staircase). I would like to have the tv above the fireplace itself, so it can be seen and so am looking for a stand that will have two poles off to the side and then the tv is mounted or placed on top of the two. Ideas are aprecciated and i will put up a diagram of the fireplace in a minute. There is two acres of beautiful scenery and so i dont want to cover the windows and the windows are about 6 ft wide (two of them). My only good options so far is to create my own stand or mount it on the wall.
Removable Table Stand for AKAI LCD TV LCT3201TD? I misplaced the removable TV table stand which comes in the factory box for the 32 inch AKAI Television. tv stand--help? about 10 years ago a friend of mine got a tv stand from hammacher schlemmer, sharper image--one of those types of stores. anyway, the tv was strapped on top and the base was a skinny curved pole, like wrought iron. sorry if this is a horrible description, but i'm hoping maybe someone knows what i'm talking about and where i can find one. thanks!
What to Do? Grandson May Have Ruined TV Stand? In our basement are 2 nice bedrooms, den and bath. My grandson, daughter and others say it's scary. It's all in white with big windows! One day I saw the tv stand had been sliced really badly. My GS did not want to sleep down there; he was scared. He's almost ten. So he said we must have a big rat and we moved upstairs, my thinking a rat chewed up the table. Then I found a knife under his bed AND in the tv stand drawer a hardback schoolbook sliced to pieces. He said he did that; he didn't know why. Now I think he ruined the tv stand just to sleep upstairs. (I had been sleeping in the basement also, in the opposite room). I cannot "prove" he did it but a rat trap has not gone off that I put down there for six weeks. And the rat poison hasn't been touched. Also, the knife was serrated as are the cuts on the book and tv stand. Like zig zag cuts. His mother is a drug addict, his father deserted him. He's very happy, all A's, very sweet and affectionate, lots of friends. Guilty??
Looking for lift or stand for tv? HELP! I need a tv stand (lift) for existing entertainment center? My boss bought a tv for our club room's entertainment center and the tv is too short. I need a small stand or lift to go inside the existing wood wall entertainment center to lift the tv up higher. There is currently a 28" gap between the tv and top of the entertainment stand. The stand can be no bigger than 42" but no less than 36". Please help me find one. Thanks for the help!!!
Tv stand for a 40 lcd tv? What is the best stand for my tv but I also have a ps3 so I need a stand that is open and allows air to flow through it. If any ideas I prefer to shop at best buy so if anybody has bought one from there please tell me. Thanks
What would be the best tv stand for my needs? I am looking for a tv stand/entertainment center for my 32" LCD tv (not mountable). It needs to have enough room and be well ventilated/open enough to hold/use: an audio receiver, a xbox 360, a playstation 3, and a wii. I want it to be made of a dark wood (however not black) and should not have glass shelving. Also, some sort of drawer/cabinet storage would be great, but I could possibly live without it. I have searched everywhere I could think that might have what I am looking for; but now I am grasping at straws. I am almost to the point to where I might just have it custom built, but I don't necessarily want to go that route. Does anyone know of a good tv stand to fit my needs? Links would be great!
This is a request for a TV stand with the elderly in mind.? :My TV stand has the DVD Tape player and set top box in the shelf provided at floor level. Can we please find an 80 +designer who can come up with a TV stand with the DVD etc on TOP of the TV where we can use it without getting on the floor and HAVING TO RISE AGAIN in this world? I am sure it will be easier to rise again in the next one.
