"reality" shows or "game" shows? The thing that has always urked me about shows being called reality shows is simply this, you have a winner and several people who lose right? Isn't that what a game show is? I watched the first season of Survivor and I really do not understand why this show is still going? I think it is dumb. I really believe that cable should create a reality tv channel and everything that is labeled as a "reality" show should be put on there and NO WHERE ELSE! There is a channel for game shows called the Game Show Network (GSN). There is a new "reality" show coming out called Pirate (@$$) Master. To me this is nothing more than an attempt by CBS to ride the coat tails of Pirates of the Caribbean and is nothing more than Survivor on a "boat". Also if Survivor was truly "real" then there would not be a "4th wall". Reality shows to me are shows like Cops and the Medical channel that to me is reality and real life!

TV shows on iPod? I have a Video iPod 80GB. I bought 2 shows from iTunes, I put them in the TV shows category watched the shows and now it magically disappeared from my iPod. In Star Trek war was treated as an ethical issue, usually. 11. Humor was a basic part of the shows. The viewer did not change or turn off the television feeling depressed or that there was no hope. 12. Instead of a reality show, there was a reality check in any program, to remind the viewer it is a TV program, and not reality. 12. There was always a little happy or humorous note at the end of the show. But not always if the story was very serious. 13. The shows are my cure for nostalgia. 14. Birthing Shows? Since my husband is deploying soon and will not be here for the birth I was thinking about applying for one of those birth shows they show on Discovery Health called Birth Day or Special Delivery... you know the show like that. But I can not find where to apply for those shows at all. During the 1990s I grew up watching cartoons like Hey Arnold, Catdog, 101 Dalmatians, Timon & Pumbaa Mike, Lu & Og, etc...Disney channel also showed re-runs of Goof troop, Duck tales, Jungle cubs etc... If that happens, it will mark the first time in nearly a century that two nations have competed for leadership as equals. Shows like "Gilmore Girls" encouraging teen pregnancy...? I'm not one to say TV is the end all be all number one influence in a child/teen's life. It's not a show's fault to blame for teenage pregnancy BUT I do realize that shows glamorize pregnancy and parenting. I realize while parenting IS the most important thing to sort fact from fiction--what happens in those teen years when parents don't know everything--according to their teens? Do you think these shows, particularly the Gilmore Girls, have a negative and unrealistic effect on young women and girls? This is not the only show I’ve seen to show where teen pregnancy works out great--there are so many others where teen pregnancy is shown as “easy.” While I know many teen pregnancies also turn out great (including mine) statistically the majority do not. Do you have any suggestions on a realistic way the media can confront this issue? Since joining Y!A I have had three girls ask me if teenage pregnancy is like the Gilmore Girls--or made a reference about parenting being like that. It truly concerns me. Nowhere did I even say I was going to protest the show. Nowhere did I say it was sending subliminal messages. Realistically the young teens who watch the show see their great relationship. They see the horrible relationship between their (older) parent and then---therefore, yes I do see the way they would amount young motherhood automatically to closeness. Many teenage mothers never graduate high school let alone end up owning a hotel. Many teenage mothers never have a nice home like they show. In a single parent home most parents have to work two jobs just to support their children and/or are on government assistance. Is that the message we want to be sending our kids? I really don't think so. There are a lot of other shows that view teenage pregnancy as a walk in the park. "One Tree Hill" shows a girl who is pregnant, still in High School, with a decked out house that I could never imagine living in. The media portrays teen pregnancy as something that just happens. It does not ever show the stereotype. It never shows struggle. As with many shows with (older parents) having a breeze. While talking about struggle is one thing but I would really love to see a show that shows it like it is because right now--they are not doing anything to help these young girls realize fact from fiction. I'm sorry if this offended you but I live in the "real" world. A world where young girls ARE influenced.

Other tv shows like Supernatural? I am doing a report for my tv history class comparing a show currently on television to a show that was on anytime between the 50s and the 80s. Nothing in the 90s, so if the show was on from sometime in the 80s and on into the 90s, it won't work. I want to do my report on the current show Supernatural. Why are shows like Law & Order so popular? This show is in my opinion pathetic simply because it lacks originality. A crime in real life happens, then a month later the show is about that SAME THING. childhood television shows? I was born in 1990, and now am 17 years old. Recently I asked a question about what childhood shows people liked to watch, and got 26 answers. Many of these answers reminded me of shows I used to like watching, for instance shows from nickelodeon, cartoon network, pokemon, and even shows as far back as Barney and Power Rangers, when I was only a few years old. Technology indicators show China ahead of the U.S. in technological standing Atlanta (January 24, 2008) —A new study of worldwide technological competitiveness suggests China may soon rival the United States as the principal driver of the world’s economy – a position the U.S. has held since the end of World War II. If that happens, it will mark the first time in nearly a century that two nations have competed for leadership as equals. In the United States, the training of scientists and engineers has lagged, and post-9/11 immigration barriers have kept out international scholars who could help fill the gap. “For scientists and engineers, China now has less than half as many as we do, but they have a lot of growing room,” noted Newman. “It would be difficult for the United States to get much better in this area, and it would be very easy for us to get worse. Why do shows like Deal or no deal, or that show where people get a brand new home, never have the poor on? I watch deal or no deal and Im like, what the fu...that woman doesnt need a s**t load of money! Shes got a great job that most likely pays her a s**t load already! Why dont they ever try to actually make a difference in someones life who is actually poor! I went to a try out for the show and I kid you not, they all sounded like the stereotype of the "white snob." And evryone who was there clearly had money. Im not saying RICH people shouldnt have a good ol time on deal or no deal but, damn, all the ones that end up on the show are always the type I saw in line! Show me someone toothless, someone wearing dirty, ripped clothing. And the same for that show that gives people brand new homes! I saw a episode once where the bathroom was nice, and clean, kitchen too. The whole house was not bad, the people had alot of nice things in the house, so that obviously means that arnt poor. What Shows??????? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!? There are four shows from the 1990's I would like to know. They all are for kids, some for teens or preteens and some for little kids. Here is what I remember: 1. This show was on Nickolodeon. It was about a girl and she always was in her room watching tv. It seemed like the main point of the show was told through the tv. 2. This show was also on Nickolodeon. It was an obstacle course where kids would go through. It had sort of an aztec miyan thing going on. 3. This show is for young kids. I think it was on Nickolodeon. Ever notice that television shows are getting shorter and seasons have less episodes? Have you noticed, as time has passed, television shows are getting shorter and shorter, and seasonal episodes are dropping in number. In the past, televison shows have been close to 27 minutes for a 1/2 hour show, and around 55 minutes for a 60 minute show, the rest being filled with commercials. In the 80's or so it was more like 48 minutes for a sixty minute program, and 25 minutes for a 1/2 hour show. And today, it's more like 42 minutes for a 60 minute show, and 21 or 22 minutes for a 1/2 hour show. Not to mention, the number of episodes per season has lowered too. 22 - 24 is pretty standard now. In the past you could find as many as 32 and more. Some shows as high as 40 shows per season. Is anyone else feeling ripped off? What's going on?

Shows on MTV...? Ok, have you seen that show, My Super Sweet 16? Ok, does anyone else think that show is rediculous and watch it only to laugh at these people? Maybe it's me but that show is terrible. There are so many reasons why. Tiarra Girls is another FLOP! I cannot believe MTV would air shows like that to pre-teen/ teens, who may not have anything like those people's lives. I would think that it would make kids feel bad, kids who's parents are struggling or don't have a pot to pee in. What shows do you know that were cancelled with cliff hangers or unresolved issues? Some shows create a cliff hanger season finally (hoping to get better ratings), but still get canceled by the network and leave the show without closure. Other shows simply have a plot that is driven toward climax presumably to be reached in the final episode (such as a space crew that is lost and is trying to get home), but is prematurely terminated before the moment can happen. The only shows that I know of are these two: 1. Space Cases.... crew never makes it home. 2. Alf.... Alf if both found and taken away by the alien task force. (Although, they did make a movie ten years later due to fan complaints that did give closure.) Any other shows that left cliff hangers and/or unresolved issues? Why do most TV comedy shows that get awards are "white TV shows"? I watch like 3 white TV comedy shows that are white(Frasier, Everybody Loves Raymond, and King of Queens,) because they are actually funny. But most shows I've seen that are white are so corny that they make me fall asleep. I'm not saying black shows aren't corny either(because some are) I'm just saying that there are WAY MORE FUNNIER black comedy TV shows than white shows. And FRIENDS is SO NOT FUNNY, I tried to watch it but it was TOO CORNY!! You can't tell me that you think TV show "Friends" was better than "Martin" Even many whites watched "Martin" It was once (when it was on) the funniest show in America. Angel,The vampire slayer and Charmed??.Man,I used to love those shows!.I used to have my whole week mapped out and now Smallville is the only one left!.I know I'm kinda weird cause I'm almost 33 and I like to watch those kinda shows but they're kinda fun to watch and they keep you from getting bored!.I loved Angel and Buffy together!.I especially loved the music that played in the back ground everytime they had a scene together.It always made my heart melt!.The writers should have let them go off together when there shows ended.Charmed was a good show.It had its ups and downs with the creativity.I like the shows that had Cole on them.I felt so bad for him becasuse all he ever did was love Pheobe.I was glad that shannon left.I've never liked her - even when she was on 90210!.She just bothers me! lol.Tell me which shows "YOU" liked in this question and what you liked about them.I'd like to hear your answers.
