Did you watch Food Network TV program "Road Tasted" when they went to NY's Veniero's for Almond Torte recipe? On the Food Network TV program (foodnetwork.com) they have a show called "Road Tasted". The Deen boys went to NY and visited an Italian Pastry shop called Veniero's (venierospastry.com). While there they showed how to make/gave the recipe for their Almond Torte (Torta Di Mandorle...a Baked almond paste filled with apricot filling). Did anyone watch this program and write down the recipe?? PLEASE email it to me if you did! There are many recipes for Torta Di Mandorle on the internet, but I am only interested in their recipe. (IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want me to email you, make sure your primary email address on your yahoo account is verified/confirmed, otherwise an email sent to you thru this site will not go through.) Thanx!
Does anyone watch Food Network Channel on tv? Has anyone here ever tried any of the recipes seen on any of the shows? and have they ever worked or failed miserably?
Which food network shows do you watch, which are annoying and which should get the boot? I have recently noticed that my TV is constantly on the food network show, with the occasional change to the travel channel for Man vs Food. Which Food network shows do you watch on a regular, which are just flat out annoying and which two shows would you get rid of? Me... Keep Dinner Impossible (and I would put it on more than once a week-that show is just toooo good.) The Diner show with Guy Anything Paula Deen Tyler's Ultimate Big Daddy and Sandra Lee. Annoying Down home with the Neelys-I like their recipes, but it's just something about them that rubs me the wrong way. Restaurant Secrets-again, like the recipes, but the chef on there seems fake. Giada at home-have never tried any of her recipes and don't want to. Boot Quick Fix meals-I mean, does anyone actually watch that show and I hate to say it but the ten dollar meals-I really wanted her to win when she competed on the next food network star but I have not seen one recipe she has made that I would try. Getting the boot 1. R
I saw this recipe on the Anne Burrell TV show on the food network channel. I learned about this? technique that has aroused my curiosity. Can anyone enlighten me as to what this technique is? The short ribs are braised and a number of fresh vegetables are pureed in a food processor and then added to the pot to brown and then scrape up, allowed to brown again, and scrape up, and finally the whole dish braises for 3 hours. I would like to try this dish but want to do a little more research before I begin. Here's the recipe I'm referring to... http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/anne-burrell/braised-short-ribs-recipe/index.html Hoping to hear from some professionals... maybe... The puree process of the vegetables is what intrigues me. Does this give extra rich flavor to the end process? Where can I find more recipes like this? Or get more insight to using a process like this? Any foodie blogs or sites??
Looking for lasagna recipe from food network? My grandma is looking for a recipe from a tv show that aired on Food Network just a few days ago, she can't remember what show and there are a million recipes for lasagna on the website. She said it only called for half a lb. of ground beef and it had cheddar cheese in it, without ricotta (almost sounds like a mexican lasagna but I think she would have remembered that) . There was also a mandarin orange dessert recipe that was in the same episode (I think) she wants that too. I'm tired of searching the internet, I know the details are sketchy but maybe someone knows what I'm talking about and wrote it down?
Cooking channels other than the food network? I have comcast, and was wondering if there are any channels besides the food network that actually cook food. The food network now is becoming more like a regular tv show. I want to actually learn how to cook food and not watch competitions actually teach you new recipes.
Isn't it great we have new tv shows like "American Muslim" on TLC? i even hear the food network is collaborating with OWS on a new show "Dr Mengele's Oven Recipes"... GREAT WORK TV PEOPLE...
Ever seen a gross recipe cooked on a cooking show? I dont mean exotic foods but the usual and a chef on food network or so TV. And that recipe they instructed to be delicious was not your idea of great and you were grossed out that this chef would prepare like this? I'f so what was the grossest ? I'll tell you mine...Wolfgang Pucks scrambled eggs were so watery and with little bits in them that was so gross. He does not know how to cook those. Scrambled eggs are supposed to FLUFFY!!! aghhh!
Is the Food Network unwittingly creating "triggers" to drink when their chefs include cocktail preparations? If you've ever watched the Food Network, you know it can make you really hungry. I think it's a great channel and I've learned a lot from it. But for a good number of their chefs, their 30 minute program is usually topped off with the presentation of a specialty cocktail at the end. And unlike a lot of advertisements where it is against the rules to show someone actually imbibing that beer, the Food Network Chefs almost ALWAYS take a sip for the cameras and go, "UMMMMMM...MMMMM!!! Boy, is THAT GOOD!" ....just the way they do with all the delicious looking food they prepare and taste. And with a 30 minute show format, that's TWICE AN HOUR, folks! I've not tracked how soon in the day they start serving "visual cocktails" to the TV audience, but I can tell you they seem to come almost every hour in the afternoon and evening. And just as much as I'd love to run emulate their libation recipe immediately, that's probably not the best thing to do when you still have work to complete. And for those who are struggling with any alcohol issues, I guess they may just have to tune out of the Food Network because of these "triggers", correct? So might the Food Network be contributing to the delinquency of a portion of America by tantilizing viewers with videos of chefs drinking twice an hour? This is the FOOD Network, right? And not the BARTENDER'S Network? I'm just wondering if the Food Network directors are instructing the chefs to include libations in their shows (because that generates more viewers) or whether all these chefs just really like to drink and party. Yes, yes, yes...we should all show self-restraint -- don't preach, please. This is just a question if the Food Network is making it harder to practice moderation when everything they demonstrate (including the drinks) LOOK SO DAMN GOOD -- ALL DAY LONG!
Next Food Network Star fans, what did you think of tonight's episode? I thought it was interesting and so far it's been the most dramatic episode of the season. First of all, I was overjoyed when I saw Ina Garten. She is one of my favorite FN chefs. I enjoy watching her show and love her warm, friendly personality. Debbie had to bring up the fact that Teddy was lacking integrity. Debbie is such a hypocrite! She lied in episode one, saying she was under budget when she was actually over and then she blames the dessert on her team. Now Teddy tries to throw her under the bus (like he and Brett did with Melissa in last week's show) by not owning up to his dessert and saying he made the meatloaf. While I can't stand Debbie, I am starting to hate Teddy more. On to Eddie. Eddie's food has been horrible and what he made tonight was no exception. I was shocked when he admitted that he got it from Paula Deen's recipes. His attitude towards Melissa was uncalled for too. Glad Bobby Flay called him on that eye roll he did. Michael having a breakdown surprised me. He did seem way off tonight. But I thought his cooking looked really good. Apparently, so did the judges and Ina (and her friends). I would love to try his recipe. I also thought he and Jeffrey work very well together. They're complete opposites of each other with their personalities, and they're both knowledgeable and are great cooks. They did a great job this episode, even if Jeffrey ended up having to coach Michael with his presentation. I felt so bad for Michael. Katie wasn't as bad, but my issue with her is she still needs to stop lecturing and make some decent food. You can cook healthy foods without sacrificing taste. Her food, except for what she made tonight, was boring and bland. Nothing much to say about Melissa. My opinions on her haven't changed. I like her, but she is way out of her league in this competition. I agreed with Susie about wanting to eliminate both Eddie and Teddy. They both pissed me off. I wanted to go through the TV somehow and beat the crap out of them. lol!
Cake sculptures on tv? On the Food Network show Ace of Cakes and some of the Food Network Challenge shows that feature cake challenges, what kind of cake are they using that lets them stack layer upon layer without the cake crushing itself? Does anyone have a good recipe for this kind of cake?
Sweet Potato casserole featured on Food Network? I am looking for the recipe for the sweet potato casserole that was featured on the show "The Secret Life of Thanksgiving" on foodnetwork. Of course they don't have it on their website, they just have the episode listed and say the recipe was from the watershed restaurant in georgia. I'm hoping someone wrote down the recipe when they were watching because they are not airing the episode again when I checked the TV schedule.... Please help! Thank u Atrocious! I feel so stupid that the answer was so obvious....I looked all over Foodnetwork for that particular recipe but didn't think about the restaurant having a website! thanks too those who answered but I was looking 4 the recipe from watershed!
liking food= passion= profession? I was talking with my folks about food and they know that I love to watch the Food Network, like to try to cook and love to save recipes to try in my own spare time. They also know that I like to eat food, yet no I am not 200 lbs. no offense. My dad made the comment that since I like food so much and am interested in cooking and watching all those cooking shows maybe I should get a degree in that.I found that silly sine I am 23,have 1 Associates under my belt, almost done with the second, have 2 semesters left with my Bachelor's and I am 23 so I think that I am way too old for culinary school.I mean my folks know that when I talk about food I know a lot of the language, techniques and such because of all the TV I watch yet because I also cook in my own time at the university I attend with my guyfriends.I find that silly,me going to culinary school and trying to graduate because I already feel like I am old.Yet when I saw the movie the "Bucket List" I started to make my own afterwards. This is under my own "Bucket List" since I want to accomplish so much in life yet take so little for granted and yes I want to learn how to cook and make good meals and such yet I also want to work in a museum yet I also want to work as a biotechnologist.I know that I cannot have all three things yet it seems that I am good at history,Biotechnology which is my 2nd Associates from which I am so close to get it and now Culinary School?I know, everything at their time yet I also want to travel, get my Master's in History, have a family, settle down and such before I am 30-that is the plan inside my head yet nothing goes as planned as most of you know.So what should I go after?I am going after History since I know I am so close and then my 2nd Associates, the Master's follows and marriage as well as family whenever it happens. So will I regret putting this off or should I pursue it?
Are rachael ray's recipes any good? I like to watch the food network and rachael ray's 30 minute show. I was wondering if you have actually tried her recipes and if it's any good. It looks good on tv, but I'm kind of hesitant to try it out.
Anyone have this Blackberry lemonade recipe? I want Allegra's blackberry lemonade recipe! A long time ago I watched one of Bobby Flay's grilling TV shows and he had a 12 year old girl as a guest and she made Blackberry Lemonade. I found it on the food network website but it said the recipe was no longer avaliable! Please, if anyone has the recipe, I need it! The only ingredients I remember are blackberries and fresh ginger root.
Looking for a fench toast recipe I saw Paula Deen's sons cook on tv today...? it was on the food network her sons were on her show cooking a french toast recipe, but i tuned in late it was 2 pieces of bread with strawberries in the middle and then they made their own fruit (i assume strawberry) syrup sort of thing to go on top anyone have the link to this recipe? i searched it on food network's website and couldn't find it =/ i'd really like to make it for my mom tomorrow though...
did anyone ever make cake in a crockpot? I have a recipe that I printed out from a cooking show for making carrot cake in the crockpot. When I saw the episode on tv, I could have sworn that what she did was put an oven safe bowl inside the crockpot instead of putting the food directly in there. But on my printed directions, it doesnt say anything about this. It tells to put the food right in the crockpot. Please help! this is for Easter Sunday! I got this from Semi-Homemade cooking with Sandra Lee on the Food Network.
Sausage zucchini tomato pasta- as seen on tv? About 2 months ago I was watching TV of this girl who made a sausage, zucchini and tomato pasta. I can't remember what her name is, or even what channel she was on (don't think it was food network or the cooking channel though). It aired on saturday or sunday morning. There was a sub-plot on her show where she was moving out of her house, and her friend was helping her. At the end they ate the pasta. I made this recipe once but can't find it again. Sorry for the vague description. If anyone knows who I'm talking about, or has the recipe, please let me know.
What Guy Fieri recipe is this? I was watching TV when a commercial for the Food Network featuring Guy Fieri (that guy with the blonde spikey hair) came on. It was a quick spot showing you how to make something to put on a hoagie roll. He had a sheet of tin foil on which he put chicken, cream cheese, cilantro, lime, and other ingredients which he then topped with another piece of tin foil, sealed it up and placed it on the grill. I saw him mix the ingredients together and put it on the bread before the commercial cut out for one of those annoying local commercials. Whatever he was making looked delicious and I wanted to get the recipe but I didn't catch the name and the commercial cut out before it told me where I could find the recipe on the Food Network site. I browsed a few of the dishes associated with his show and didn't find anything that seemed to be this meal. Sooo... If anyone knows what I am describing and could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated!
Do you find that it's hard to follow an Asian recipe you see on a cooking show you can't get the ingredients? I find myself enjoy eating some Asian dishes and watching people cooking asian food on TV. But I don't find myself enjoy making it. I find it's hard to get the ingredients. Sure they always tell you to go to specialty market. But it's not as convenient as going to your neighborhood markets. Besides, it's hard to find things in a specialty store. Am I the only one feeling this way? I think there might be a lot of people thinking it's hard to find ingredients for Asian dishes, that's why Ming Tsi's cooking show was cancelled by Food Network. He is now only on PBS. Even though he is an exceptional chef and has a great sense of humor. That still doesn't keep him around on Food Network.
Paula Deen Recipe...? Okay, so I was watching tv (not very well obviously) and Paulas Best Dishes was on and it's an episode called "It's all in the family" Well, towards the end of the show, she made a coffee drink with ice cream in it, does anyone have this recipe? I looked up the episode on Food Network and they don't have the recipe listed at all... That's it! Thank you so much! I definitely want to try this! It looked so yummy!
Do you think Thanksgiving as it is practiced in America today, unwittingly promotes OBESITY? I understand that the original Thanksgiving with the Pilgrims and the Indians was a celebration of survival in the New World. So they had plenty of reason to stuff themselves in feast-like fashion because the alternative (e.g. starvation) could have become a reality without Divine Providence (as the Pilgrims might have called it) and of course, assistance from the Natives who showed the Pilgrims how to grow and plant less familiar crops in the New World. But in modern America, we live in a developed society -- a "land of plenty", as it were -- such that not many in America should have to worry about starvation much these days. I just notice, however, how the grocery stores heavily stock their shelves, freezers and produce bins in plentiful amounts in anticipation of the Thanksgiving week mobs of shoppers. And how at least in my area of the country (mostly Hispanic), obesity is such an epidemic, it becomes like navigating an obstacle course just trying to dodge the huge bodies pushing huge grocery carts at the grocery store Thanksgiving week...and I wonder if we haven't been pigging out or "worshipping food" a bit too much as a society. Europeans will certainly criticize overweight Americans, and rightly so, although there are plenty of obese people in Europe as well. I am the chef in my home and cooking is a keen interest of mine so I watch the Food Network on cable frequently. And when I see how all their TV chefs so enthusiastically cover Thanksgiving week with all their holiday recipes, it almost seems like we have lost the original meaning of Thanksgiving and just turned it into a big excuse for everyone to pig out more than usual. What do you think? Note, I am not panning Thanksgiving as a holiday. And indeed I enjoy a good meal as much as the next person. I just sense how there are many -- particularly those who celebrate their homelands culture more so than that of the US -- who don't observe "giving thanks" so much and just look to Thanksgiving as a holiday where it is acceptable to stuff yourself more than usual. I don't find gluttony very attractive and sadly, there seem to be more gluttons roaming around today than in times past. Blame it on McDonalds and fast food, I guess. But I am not panning Thanksgiving as a holiday. I just wish more folks would remember it for what it originally stood for.
Meal baked inside bread recipe? I saw a tv show a while back, I think it might have been on the food network. They were talking about how these people long ago started baking meals into bread 'shells'. I remember something about it was a mining community and they would bake meat and veggies into the middle of a bread and put jelly at the end for dessert. The workers would take this with them for an easy portable meal. If anyone saw this episode or the type of meal sounds familiar, maybe you bake something like this... please post the recipe or link. Thank you. Thanks, the Cornish Pastry looks like it's exactly what I was thinking of. It's so much easier to search for recipes when you have a name... thank you.
